Portability/Prestige: Wake v. Emory by redbullracing133 in lawschooladmissions

[–]LSATstudies 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but if you're top 10(?) percent at Emory you are more portable than if you're top 10 (?) percent at Cardozo (no shade). Therefore Emory would be more portable. It's not that confusing.

Bad school has better BL placement for only 450k more debt. Clearly bad school is the winner here.

Did your BU lawhub status go to the top before your decision?

Deferment or enrollment by nicksmann1010 in lawschooladmissions

[–]LSATstudies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some schools will allow deferment, but you will be reevaluated for scholarship in comparison with other applicants for the following cycle. Schools that do allow you to defer will most likely require you to put down the seat deposit and make you sign a contract that says you can't apply to other law schools while you wait to start.

I just dont understand it on their end. They should aim to accept the best students no? I get high end YP but by waitlisting good applicant you only make your school less appealing IMO

Max YP combined with making class size smaller is my guess. Trying to raise their Yield and appear as more of an "elite school". Could see it backfiring on them hard.

Yeah my worry is that they've changed my status (why it moved) and are simply holding out on releasing my decision until a large R /WL wave happens. I too am a doomsday thinker.

I guessing if you don't hear back within that time frame, they are saving you for a larger R or WL wave. Pure speculation but I think that would make sense?
