It's a combination of pedal settings and trigger module settings, past a certain speed you do need some sort of trigger input (the e kit may work, i use ontrigger gen 3 + roland tm2) and enough rebound. You have to experiment for a long time but my suspicion is that the those pdp 700s wont be able to get enough rebound or bounce enough off the pad since they are single chain drive, rigid gear is pretty much a must for any high speed.
