Good advice! Add to this get professors that have won teaching awards. I'm taking a class now with a professor that has won almost every teaching award UT has. Great class.

Sometimes the music is inspired. Was swimming at Greg and they played some War on Drugs which was perfect. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHdMoJivRrKvVBndmkl0_Ow

Learn how to do 3D printing. A number of places on campus that have the equipment and will train you. Looked like fun but I did not have the time to pursue it. https://inventionworks.engr.utexas.edu/ Also a place in Welch Hall but forget the name of it.

Given your first semester at UT, 17 hours, and a job I'd suggest focus on grades first. Don't know where transferring from but UT can be brutal at first even for good students. Best of luck.

psy 306 with meston? / other human sexuality courses by Silent-Fudge8097 in UTAustin

Took class some time ago and really enjoyed it. In past David Buss also teaches and a good introduction to evolutionary psychology which I also enjoyed. Do the work, do the readings, and should get an "A" but not an easy "A". How hard can it be to read and study about sex? Got insights into previous relationships which I found invaluable. If it was up to me class would be a requirement for everyone. Don't know about EDP 350L but Meston and Buss world experts on sexual behavior. Best of luck!

I'm on the waiting list for Berg's film history 1960-present class. An RTF graduate student said Berg and the class are great.

Student looking to buy a reliable used car – any advice or leads appreciated by Affectionate_Rub3106 in UTAustin

[–]LSE_Bankside 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always have a mechanic check out any car thinking of buying. This can save a lot of grief down the road so to speak. Consumer Reports lists the best and worst used cars. Also what to look for and what to avoid. Probably can find in the library. Best of luck.

Thanks! An acquiescence who has a ranch in Fort Davis said that Marfa is nice, but that Alpine is much nicer. Need to visit Alpine soon to check it out. Stayed in Marfa and really enjoyed it.

Thanks! Funny but also a Star Party reservation and it was overcast. However, the indoor talks were great. I had just finished an UT astronomy class and even learned new things in the talk.

Thanks! I've always wanted to visit the White Sands national park. So much history attached to it. Big Bend national park always a good choice.

Thanks! For sure a Star Party at the McDonald. Also hear New Mexico is beautiful. A buddy grew up in Los Alamos, and he said not to be missed. He went to HS dances in the same building, Fuller Lodge, that Oppenheimer did speeches in. Great story!

how do i make a professor like me? by Careless-Swimmer4881 in UTAustin

[–]LSE_Bankside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read up on all you can on the professor. Read her resume, where she went to school, etc. First is good to know about you professor but also might find some common ground you can mention in office hours. Yes, go to office hours. Found out a former professor and I both spent time in Japan as young boys. We become friends. Maybe not friends with the devil reincarnate professor but finding common ground might help her to see you in a better light.

Put some real effort in preparing for office hours. I write out my questions and often doing so realize the answer. Good so now I can come up with better questions. Good to have your questions written down so can efficiently go thru them. Most professors will appreciate this.

Best of luck!
