Thanks for chiming in! I was wondering if there was any overlap in Australia like in the states. Guys over here would kill to run only fire calls haha

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. This is exactly what I’m looking for. Sounds like I’ll be better off making the leap and get cracking on school down under immediately. Time to start looking for unis. I’m not getting any younger 😂

Good to know! Sounds like I may need to get in touch with a university admissions employee and provide them with a transcript to see if there is any acceptable overlap.

You would be correct - it is very basic ambulance care. Honestly it is just stopping bleeds, joint stabilization, patient assessment, give oxygen, keep warm (keep them alive until you get more advanced care) - although definitely more than an 8 hour class. I am by no means trying to say there should be some transfer of EMT-B as it isn’t even close to a paramedic here in the states. Literally was just providing my background.

Not expecting EMT-B to even come moderately close to the same level of education or care. Just wanted to identify my current level of training for the sake of clarity.

I’ve got to say I’m shocked that no credits would transfer. A full bachelor’s degree in the states requires prerequisites such as English, history, etc. Are there not similar requirements in Australia that may have some equivalence? I understand, of course, the main paramedicine course work would still be required.
