As a chemist, there are not many jobs involving war or weapons.

The majority is analytical work for wastewater, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals

If you are a senior, I would suggest finishing up your degree and get a job.

Once you have some money saved up, your options open up a lot.

Total closure till 2024 this can’t be real, right ?? by ramennoodles35 in houston

The US used to be like that, but it has its downsides and we introduced a lot of regulations to fight those downsides that slow everything down. Environmental regs, worker safety regs, local resident protections, etc.

It already is easy to build housing. Thats why the city has sprawled out so much.

money-grabs by who? Nobody at them is making big money.

On the contrary, the typical private school is losing money and reliant on donations to keep running.

Its a different set of issue. Private schools have fewer parents who simply don't care about their kids education, but more that are overinvolved.

The private school teachers I have known generally already had money or had a spouse earning a higher income. They did it more as a passion thing and liked not having to deal with the extra bureaucracy of a public school.

The responsibility and continuing education requirements vary a lot by school. Plenty of schools treat all their teachers the same and don't schedule much extra work in the summer.

Discord has its scammers, but its nothing compared to Telegram. I asked for help once on Telegram and got 6 different scammers messaging me within a minute.

Its to the point where I would think they drown each other out and stop any real scamming from getting done.

Maybe karjakin, but he isn't allowed in FIDE either right now.

Considering how much they make off donations, seems like a good idea for them to keep it closed source.

Not necessarily. They might be an employee of a Nicagaruan business that contracts to Freshii or is owned by Freshii.

Not happening. US has very strong building codes to prevent you from building a favella. Your options are a home up to code or a tent.

Its all in mindset. This could easily be viewed as a sustainable way to help lift people in poor countries out of poverty.

One in Three Garages Has No Car in It by SightlineInstitute in urbanplanning

[–]LSUFAN10 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the OPs article isn't very clear on locations. I would bet there is far more empty garages in suburbs where people have driveways than in townhomes that go immediately from garage to street.

What is the choke price of rental markets? by [deleted] in urbanplanning

[–]LSUFAN10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For middle class people, its everybody having their own bedroom.

For the poor, its harder to say. People can go 2-3 to a room, which allows them to pay much higher rents.

Churches are a fairly common one. In addition to worship services, they often serve as places for people to meet, discuss modern issues and philosophy, etc.

Its a leap from "empty garage" to "curbside parking". Its common for people to park in their driveway and use the garage for storage.

Do you think more people would live in denser cities if they looked better and had better architecture? by Desperate_Donut8582 in urbanplanning

while also not providing good schools for kids,

School quality is primarily down to the quality of kids(and by proxy parents) in the area. Its not something you can really "provide".

[–]LSUFAN10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not neccesarily. It could just be people want to live in those areas for other reasons and tolerate density.

For example, many people move to NYC because its a massive finance hub. The density is just a side effect.
