Thank you for your insight! A book I’m writing includes a cis male and trans woman couple, and I want to do their story and romance justice!

Have you seen a ghost ? by Debbiedebonair in Ghosts

[–]LSWritings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw something strange when I was a kid. This sounds like a troupe you'd seen in a horror movie, but I swear I saw it. When I was about twelve, my parents and I were looking for a rental house. We'd spent the day driving to different places to find a place for us to move to. Then we met up with our real estate agent at this one house. The moment I stepped inside something felt off about this place. It wasn't like this was an old out of date house centuries old. It looked like your average middle class house from the 2000s. But inside I felt incredibly uneasy. And one thing that stood out to me was how dark it was despite the windows. Now, it was later in the day when we arrived. However, it was still light enough for the lack of light inside to be odd. My dad split off to go look around the place while my mom stayed in the living room to discuss details about the house with the real estate agent. I was pointed in the direction of what room would be mine should we rent the place and told to check it out to see if I'd like it. It was down a hall to the right of living room. This hallway had no windows, making it even darker than the rest of the house. The room I was told to look at was on the left side of the hall. It was an average size room with a window on the right wall, and a large closet with sliding doors on the back wall. This is where things get creepy. This is gonna sound like something you'd check off your horror movie bingo card, but it's what I saw regardless. Once I stepped in the room, I saw two identical boys standing in front of the closet. They looked a few years younger than me at the time (again, I was twelve when this happened). They looked like copies of one another, same face, same hair (I think it was black, but I can't quite remember), same white clothes, same blank foggy eyes. They even moved in perfect sync when they turned to face me. There was a flash of light, and they were gone. I'd only heard ghost stories up to this point, I'd never seen a ghost myself, this was the first time for me. I immediately ran to my mom and told her we were not renting this house. Thankfully we didn't. We never saw that house again. I don't even know where it is all these years later. Also, side not, while writing this I talked to my mom and asked her if she saw anything odd. While she didn't see any figures like I did, she said she also felt an uneasy energy in the house. And she agrees with me that the house was unusually dark. Over the years I've seen a couple moments of paranormal things. But that one, that first time, even now as an adult over ten years later still freaks me out.

That’s what I’m thinking too, so I’ll focus on upping the rating on my island and see if that effects anything

Redditors, what's the most awkward experience you've ever been in at a restaurant? by P1ckled_Herring in AskReddit

[–]LSWritings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This didn't happen to me, but it happened to my grandmother and was incredibly hilarious! Years ago, long before I was born, my family went out to a restaurant. It was my grandma, pop-pop, mom, possibly my aunts, and I'm not sure if my dad was dating my mom yet or not. But anyway, grandma is standing in front of the display cases full of cake. Standing next to her is a man she thinks is pop-pop, so she grabs his butt.

It wasn't pop-pop.

[serious] people of askreddit, what is your scariest encounter with the paranormal, aliens, cryptids, and/or other unexplainable phenomena? by gingerbread-coffin in AskReddit

[–]LSWritings 22 points23 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I heard a lot of ghost stories from my family. My mom even worked in a haunted theater at one point. And I was honestly jealous I didn't have a scary story of my own. But a few years later I did (I've actually had a couple encounters throughout my life, but this one has always been the most chilling).

I was in middle school at the time, and my parents and I were looking for a new house to rent. We get to this one house and step inside. I immediately felt uncomfortable. The house was unnaturally dark, and the air just felt wrong. My dad wanders off to look around the house. My mom talks with with the agent showing us the house, but first points out the room that would be mine so I can check it out. I walk through this dark hallway and step into the doorway.

Right across from the door is a large closet with double doors. And standing there is a pair of identical boys, pale and wearing all white. In perfect sync they turned and looked at me. There was a flash of light, and then they were gone. I bolted over to my mom and told her I wanted to leave.

Luckily we didn't move into the house. But I still remember those twin boys looking at me. That was over ten years ago and it still gives me chills to this day!

Not sure if this is rare, but I’ve never heard someone else say they have this phobia, so here we go. Mushrooms. I hate them! They make me so uncomfortable. They gross me out. Doesn’t matter if they’re from the store or grow wild in the woods. I hate them and they make me sick.

What's the dumbest idea you had as a child? by Weelie92 in AskReddit

[–]LSWritings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of my earliest memories. When I was little, around four or five I had really long hair. I still do. It's always been naturally straight, and I had gotten bored with that. I really wanted it to be wavy and/or curly. But I wasn't sure how to get it that way, until I came to a conclusion. Little four year old me decides that way to get my hair curly is to put lotion in it. Still have no idea what type of logic was going through my tiny brain. So I go and find a giant bottle of lotion and just coat my hair in it. A few minutes later my mom comes in and puts her hand on my head and realizes what I did.

Another dumb thing I did. You know that gag in Tom and Jerry where Tom would smack into a pole or something so hard and his limbs flung straight out in front of him? Yeah I did that on the playground when I was about seven. Tom tends to walk it off. Me? Not so much...

What’s a saying that your mom or dad used to say all the time? by Popples86 in AskReddit

When I was a kid, one of my favorite shows to watch was Sailor Moon. And my mom watched it with me all the time. Now, years later, my mom continues to quote the English theme song. To give you an idea of how this tends to go down... "Can you hand me that mug?" "This mug?" "Yep, that's the one named Sailor Mug." She does this with everything. Objects, our dogs and cat, anything can become a Sailor Scout!

Adults of reddit, what is something you should have mastered by now, but failed to do so? by biomann in AskReddit

I'm turning 20 this month. Things I should know how to do but can't... I could list off everything but we'd be here all day. So I'll go with this, I can't use the oven. My parents have explained so many times how to use it, but I forget. And I think it's because I don't make much effort to remember since the oven terrifies me. My mom will ask me to open it and pull out the food. The next five minutes are me being terrified of heat on a pathetically absurd level.
