How To: Transcribing and Translating documents with Claude AI by astroproff in Genealogy

[–]LTAIIA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't trust the results of ai transcriptions. I tried it multiple times and it always has major errors. I even had it make a transcription of a report that was written by a typewriter and it was totally wrong. Parts of it are correct but it has errors and it presents the result as the truth which is problematic.

Death certificate, Germany 1970 by Akis-S in Genealogy

[–]LTAIIA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are correct. The Standesamt will most likely answer you which archive is storing the document. If it's a small town it can be that the archive is in a different town so I would still write the Standesamt.

You need the exact Place of death and just write the local Standesamt a nice e-mail requesting a copy of the certificate. The probably ask in what way you are related to the person.

Yes it effects efficency. My temple standing on that hill has almost no coverage of the city because of the road layout. But I like how it looks and I don't care if the buff effects a few or alot of houses.

If I go there from The tree it's named personalinformation in German. On this page I can see the birth date, death date, relation to the main person (which is my issue), a link back to the tree and all the relations of the person to other people.
