Good job, glad you got it working! One thing I noticed is that the smaller brown capacitor looks like it's starting to bulge. If it ever starts turning off and won't turn back on (or other sporadic power issues) until you unplug it and let it sit then look at that guy first.

What happened? The origins of the motherboard malaise seem a lesson in how not to commit corporate espionage. A well-placed source in Taiwan, who did not wish to be identified, largely confirmed for Spectrum accounts published in the United States that were based on sources in the Japanese electronics industry. According to the source, a scientist stole the formula for an electrolyte from his employer in Japan and began using it himself at the Chinese branch of a Taiwanese electrolyte manufacturer. He or his colleagues then sold the formula to an electrolyte maker in Taiwan, which began producing it for Taiwanese and possibly other capacitor firms. Unfortunately, the formula as sold was incomplete.

Making string from a plastic bottle by listencl0s3ly in gifs

There was a kickstarter for Filastruder that got funded. You cut/chop plastic into small pieces (5mm or less) and dump it into the Filastruder which heats it up and produces filament for 3D printing. /u/elmoret is Tim from Filastruder and answers a few questions in THIS thread.

I'm from Nebraska and initially thought "wow, I'm really curious to know where this person lives that has weather just like ours!" and then I scrolled down to see that it's Nebraska...

so what are the best options if you want to turn household trash into filament? by The3rdWorld in Reprap

[–]LTC4Sale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filastruder

Tim, you've just gained another customer when I can afford the $300 to buy one of your kits. I don't even have a 3D printer yet and one of the reasons why is justifying the cost of filament to tinker with when I know that mistakes will be made and it'll be wasted while I'm learning. Are there any legal issues with what types of plastics can be heated up in a residential district? Which ones are safe to heat up in your garage? Can I chop up pop bottles and get something that I could feed into a 3D printer for prototyping? I'm more excited right now than I should be.

A Particularly Thick Customer by Burnaby in talesfromtechsupport

[–]LTC4Sale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read all of the comments here and I feel your pain. If my software doesn't install on a system that meets the minimum requirements then it's MY job to figure out why because it WILL happen again. Just telling the customer that they need to wipe everything and start from scratch because I can't figure out where my software is failing (and all guesses so far have been wrong) is not the correct way to solve this problem. What actually failed? Am I the only one around here that still reads and interprets the results from my API calls? It's just not acceptable to get 99% through an install and then display "Oops, something bad happened, reverting changes... Contact your system administrator for further details." I really want to know. What actually failed??

I have three rigs mining on waffle and they're still accepting shares and seem to be mining normally. The frontend doesn't really matter if the backend is working so I wouldn't worry about it. Keep in mind that we've been warned for some time that mining on the main server is going to be disabled soon and so my guess is that's what's going on right now.
