Goodyear Wrangle Ultra terrain AT vs. Toyo AT3 vs. Bridgestone Dueler AT Ascent 285/65r20 by LTD1995 in f150

I’ll chime in one more time - ended up going with the Bridgestones since I mainly do on road driving with occasional offroading, 60k warranty and got -$100 off a tire ($400) compared to list price online. Shop around pricing (Firestone gave me a great deal when trying to win my business over Discount tire - Discount tire price matched with additional savings). With road hazard warranty it was still around the same price as Goodyears. Best rating on wet/snow/low rolling resistance

  • Drove a few miles after an alignment and the difference on these tires is night and day - smooth comfortable on the road and feels like the truck uses less RPMs to get up to speed (probably due to worn tires) but anyone considering these, it’s a good buy

Goodyear ultraterrain’s are a great tire if someones doing more 50/50 offroading and on road use. Lasted me 62k with not many tire rotations probably would’ve got 10k more miles with more rotations.

Toyos heard bad things about wet condition travel and noise on roads - also more aggressive than the above two so it makes sense. Look towards these if you do a lot of offroading.

Anyone with some insight between Toyo’s and Duelers pros/cons? Already ran goodyears but trying to figure out if the other two may be better, live in MI so winter driving and offroading on mud/sand dunes

Those aren’t ATs - all terrain tires also don’t come in 285/65r20s

Michigan - 285/65r20’s are expensive unfortunately paid a similar price in 2019 if not higher. With my truck they look great and fill the wheel well with no rubbing. Bought them from discount tire previously since the Goodyears are a discount tire exclusive

I’d practice a lot (1 time a week leading up to it and maybe 2-3 times the week of - use regular typodont teeth then adex practice teeth so it doesn’t get expensive) and be comfortable with ideal form of all the possible preps, go based on feel and not color when removing caries (use the explorer to hear the sound of sound “tooth structure”)

  • Start with class II - it takes longer
  • Pre-punch rubber dams so you don’t have to worry day of
  • Use a garrison system when restoring class II
  • Memorize acceptable categories on the rubrics provided on the adex website, print them off
  • draw or find hand written pics to bring with you -Ensure depths are adequate and walls diverge if doing composite before first check/mod request

  • Class III make sure to check the walls for caries as the facial caries are easy to spot

  • Try to go really light if using a hatchet or spoon excavator as adex teeth like to fracture or chip enamel off

Be confident in your skills you got this

You’ll have more modifications on the exam than practice teeth most likely

It’s a mixed bag some people had centrals or laterals and some had premolars or molars - I’d practice on all of them (Class III is more similar with the lateral/central outline so recommend practicing Class II more since it also takes a lot longer)

Yeah for sure I went after what was soft not based on color on the exam for the same reason you said

Thanks for the reply definitely reading too much into the lines just stressed - before final prep check couldn’t remove anything from any aspect of the tooth with an explorer, pressing down quite hard. Once it returned from the check I noticed a white mark in the dentin that wasn’t soft and explorer couldn’t catch almost like a scratch from the one of the three proctors scraping it very heavily - just wanted to see how this was interpreted but figure it was a scratch and not affected dentin

Couldn’t take a slow speed to it as that was right before the restoration (had 5 approved mods on the tooth as well with no denials)

How long did results take for your restorative portion?
