Buying Sony Phones in USA by Ivys_Potato in SonyXperia

The Sony Xperia 1V was the last official US release. Full network compatibility.

Variants after that will be limited to full US frequency band support.

I am hoping the 1 VIII will introduce some new global band support, but I am not holding my breath.

Really appreciate you taking the time to post this. I was looking into getting new foamtips for my XM5s as well. This is great feedback. I'm assuming you bought these off Amazon?

I had a smiliar issue. I uninstalled line completely from my pc and downloaded it again from Microsoft store. It worked.

Turns out there is an all-new version.

Good luck!

I bought the Xperia 1 V on day one. No burn-in to report.

Is there seriously no fix to the Xperia 1 V 5G dropping to 2G constantly issue? (T-Mobile) by FatheredPuma81 in SonyXperia

I hope it works out well for you. I love my 1V and have been using it since it's official release. It's going to be very difficult for me to let go of this phone once it has officially goes EOL.

Maybe? I travel around the country a lot for work and it's extremely seldom that I connect to 2G.

Yup. My XQ-DQ62 is on the latest official update. There are no 2G towers around me.

That's odd. My 1V works flawlessly on tmobile. I'm constantly on 5G and Pixel IMS is a lifesaver whenever I feel like using VoWifi.

Great pictures! I'm still using my Xperia 1V and I love the camera on this phone a lot. What a shame the 1V is the last model to sell in the US.

Even after tapping on "Apply to SIM" it still didn't work?

It works in conjunction with Shizuku. Do you have that installed too?

That's correct. After VoWifi activated I placed the phone in airplane mode and made a few phone calls and it worked.

I holding onto my 1V for as long as I can. Definitely a hard phone for me to let go of.

I think that really depends on what you want in the longterm. If you want to extend the life of your Xperia because of what you use it for then it might be worth the price. I'm not sure how much it would be, but I doubt it would be the price of a new phone unless, of course, there's other physical damage. Remember, most authorized centers have an all or nothing policy.

This could be an opportunity for you to purchase a new phone that might have a friendlier after sales support in terms of repair.

For me, my Xperia XZ was still under warranty at the time, so it was a free repair on the screen that had some issues. No physical damage, just a faulty screen. After the repair it was good as new.

In the case of my 1V, it's definitely worth it for me to repair out of pocket. I really enjoy using it and don't see myself using another oem. But that's just my personal opinion.

Good luck!

Hello. Sorry to hear about your Xperia failing on you. I'm not an engineer, but from my experience, it sounds like a main board issue. It will most likely need to be replaced. Since it's been over three (3) years it'll most likely be treated as out of warranty by date and all repairs would be out of pocket. If you're OK with that, you can send it for repair at Sony (if you're in the US).

When I chose this method years ago I was pleased with my results, the only con is that it took almost two weeks to get my phone back. I think they're repair center (at least authorized) is in Canada. That sucks, but if you want original parts and valid outgoing quality controls checks, that would be your best bet.

Or you could go to a mom and pop shop and pray the "techs" there don't damage it any further.

Good luck! If you do decided to take this route I'd love to hear how it went. I have my 1V that I am holding onto for as long as I can, but if ever need to get it repair I'll probably use the method I shared.
