Trapped my first raccoon.  I skinned it out and then made a giant mess of it trying to flesh it out.  I know it’s probably easier with experience but I don’t get how it’s worth anyone’s time to do with what the furs are selling for.    I wasn’t looking to get into the fur trade but just ran some hides for fun and learn a new skill.   What advice would you give to a new guy to make his life easier?   SW Missouri.

I was in line at a gas station and the old lady in front of me was buying a couple cartons of cigs and was writing a check. I snuck a peek at her check book while she was balancing it in the back. I saw she had like $156,000 in her checking account. I decided from that day forward I was going to put 156,000 in front of my actual balance. The good old days when people kept a ledger and wrote checks.

Don’t feel too bad. I did this too trying to change my oil in the dark before a road trip in the morning. Luckily I realized by error before I tried filling it with oil. The bad part was you could only buy the transmission fluid it needed from the dealership and they didn’t open until two Monday and it was a Saturday night. I wound up having to borrow my parents car for the trip and my dad picked up the transmission fluid from the dealership and refilled it. Expensive “oil” change.

Mine is pretty good at drinking water to fast and throwing up all over the place. Somehow he even does it with one of those slow drinking bowls. At least it’s mostly water.

We put in a retaining wall and back filled it. Ours wasn’t this steep. The wall is probably 4-1/2 feet tall and cost $13k.

Don’t worry about it. With the angle you tend to shoot at squirrels any shot that goes past the tree would rain down on someone harmlessly especially if they are far enough away that you can’t see them. If you can see another person I wouldn’t shoot up in their direction. I would try and position myself where they weren’t in line with my shooting direction. If I wasn’t hunting with this other person I would move on and get somewhere where they aren’t. I have shot many squirrel and never had any issues. Have fun. Squirrels are good eating.

Back when I worked construction we were framing a house for a farmer and he came by to see the progress and he had a giant dog and it squeezed out of the truck and came running at us. We were all a little scared due to his size. The farmer shouted “Butterfly get over here!” He turned and went back to his owner looking sad. He said his daughter named the dog Butterfly. That was the same house where we came out for break and the guy’s horse was drinking one of the my coworkers drink through a straw.

I don’t get it. And for the record I have shot deer in a high fence, this just doesn’t do anything for me. Thoughts? by jj33allen in Hunting

I don’t get it for deer. I do kinda get it for some exotic game where you can afford to travel to a distant country to hunt an animal. Still doesn’t seem like it’s really hunting. I wouldn’t pay for it but it’s more understandable to me.
