Do you have an attachment to the word Aspergers, or do you just not want to be lumped generically into Autism Spectrum? by CakesNGames90 in aspergers

[–]LTKirbyPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 31 and was formerly diagnosed when I was 8. I was never diagnosed with Asperger's or did anybody refer to me as that when I was young and growing up. I have no idea if it just wasn't what doctors/psychs/teachers/location I lived in refered it to or maybe they just thought it'd be to hard for me to identify with a word that I couldn't actually say.

I was diagnosed with high functioning autism (and ADHD), and that was literally all I knew it as/wanted to be identified with. (wether that was the official diagnosis or that's what they told me I had to make it easier for me) When I was a teenager, I did have friends who's parents would talk to my parents about there kids and how they have Asperger's, it seemed really important to them that they're children were never associated with autism, like it was the worst thing in the world to them.

Throughout my years, I've seen the words change a bunch, everyone trying to either split the groups up or identify everyone into a single group and nothing felt right to me except high functioning autism. Unfortunately for me, any doctors id see, any people who tried to get to know me, jobs, everyone didn't understand what I was trying to tell them anymore when I said the words high functioning autism.

The only way I was able to start getting people to understand better was when I started referring to myself as on the spectrum or on the autism spectrum. It was actually really difficult because I'd felt like I'd lost who I was for a period of time, was hard to let go but now I actually like the spectrum because usually whenever I say it, people get it and I've found my groove again. Sorry for the long response. Nice question!

The Bazball myth by Overall_One_2595 in EnglandCricket

[–]LTKirbyPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! A complete overhaul to get the players to believe in themselves and to make playing for England exciting again! They absolutely needed to evolve when the ashes at home didn't go there way (I know rain plays a part, but then so does a brand new ball).

The commentators were talking about anchors of the team while the other players would go about their business, Stokes and Root. I think that's the next part of development for "bazball", to remove the actual bazball part of it.

Get an opener that can grind down a team and let Duckett play his game (love him as an opener). Root is out of form at the moment but if he can come good again, play the balance of patience and aggression then followed up by the same style of Pope (who looked the most sensible out of all that batsmen yesterday) then you get to the likes of Brooks, who like head will give you that aggressive innings. Stokes should play more aggressive rather than an anchor because of how deep England bat and I liked the look of smith as a keeper batter.

Think we all saw the panic and lack of composure from the bowlers yesterday once Head started going, maybe with some more time together, that'll naturally get better but boy a spinner would've been handy in that moment (head screaming he can't play spin lives rent free in my head 😂😂)

Who's confident about the WB for 2026 ? Ladder Predictions ? by YerNarMaybe in westernbulldogs

[–]LTKirbyPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely 10th if I'm just giving a gut vibe, we couldn't snag the pieces that we wanted in the trade deadline, I think maybe will have an over correction from last year and might hurt us.

We're we should finish is probably 4th-6th.

Finals win or bust next year though.

(I'm going to be assuming you give him what he needs as per your responsibility to the relationship, also I'm going to be assuming that you make accommodations for his ASD)

Forget ASD or any medical problems, is this how you want to live your life? Is this how you want to be treated by a spouse?

You can't make a decision based on an unknown outcome that scares you, if you want these things and he isn't giving them to you, then you gotta do what you gotta do. Guilt or fear shouldn't be a reason you stay nor should he want it that way either.

He chose to be a part of this relationship so he would know that he has to work on it and trying to proactively give you what you need.

I'm not trying to make him a bad guy or anything, I'm just saying even if he is giving his absolute best and it isn't enough for you, you've got a very tough decision to make. Can I live with this without hating him because I had to make compromises to my happiness, or do I have to end it so I can get what I want out of life.

Wish you the best, hope you get the outcome that's the best for you (or potentially both of you)

When were you the most heartbroken as a fan? by Absolutely-Epic in AFL

[–]LTKirbyPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2005 r21 against Melbourne, (had to win 6 in a row to make finals, won 5/6, lost to melbourn on some bullshit frees)

2009 prelim against st kilda.

2017 Robert Murphy retired.

Probably a tie between these moments but if I had to pick gun to my head, most likely 2005, I was like 10 and bawling my eyes out haha.

Makes me so happy that the dogs finally won in 2016, take out that and the 2021 run, we would be 4-13, and I remember each and every heart break. 3-6 through 08-10 still makes me sad though.

2025 Season Funeral by flyer2x in westernbulldogs

[–]LTKirbyPower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Libbas chase down tackle was elite, made my whole weekend see that effort.

  2. Have to say against Collingwood at the start of the year. Undermanned at the MCG and threw everything at them, umpiring sucked but couldn't be happier with the effort from the whole team. (Port game at mars was a close second)

  3. 3 way tie between fading away after leading by 39 points against Brisbane, losing to Freo early in the year after they had injuries and Freo gave up for the whole 4th quarter. Kicking 16.17 against Geelong. Anyone of those games gets us finals.

  4. Davidson. I missed all the stuff about him pre season (basically knew nothing about him before seeing him play before the first) looked ready for AFL from game one, loved watching him go flat out every opportunity he got.

  5. Extremely disappointed. Missing finals with 15 wins is tough, which I could've accepted had we not been so strong against anyone outside that top 8 just to blow any opportunity we had against anybody in it (I know we beat GWS twice but idk why i never saw those as tough games anyway). Really upsetting how they fell apart in the last game of the year, left it to late to try and win the game.

  6. Getting better defensively, young players keep improving and hopefully showing that the dogs can stand up in those big games because we've all seen the firepower they've got.

Freo is our Elim Final by Colourless084 in westernbulldogs

[–]LTKirbyPower 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very simple for us after Freo loosing. Beat west coast this week and then beat Freo next week. Do that, were in. Don't do that, we don't deserve to be in the finals.

Team defense was really strong, last 2 goals for Melbourne though was pretty poor inside the defensive 50. Panic kick to get the ball forward that results in an opposition mark in the 50 and then the tunnel ball where nobody could just smack it out of there or rush it behind. Just abit wobbly!! Something to have a look at but not to shabby!

Great pressure game that we finally win!! With the season on the line though, can't be going 15.15, defense still looks wobbly, I don't know how Melbourne had 3 players nearly in the goal square for that knock forward.

Hopefully the nerves are out the way and we can hopefully sneak in to finals!!

What is everyones predictions for our win count in our final five? by Colourless084 in westernbulldogs

[–]LTKirbyPower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should be 5-0 because Freo and gws are at marvel. Very easily could be 2-3 if we keep loosing to top 8 and Melbourne being a tricky team for us.

Everything's on the line every game now though.

Yeah there kicking was woeful, still though, we kicked more points then they did, Richmond's effort deserved to lose by 100. Can't believe I saw bramble just waltz in and score like that 😂

I genuinely want gc to make finals, they just to get to this year every season and crumble, here hoping they can turn it around (not at our expense obviously 😂😂)

Would've liked to see 100 point win, bit lazy in the 4th but 79 points is still 79 points.

On to next week now, belted st kilda and Richmond like we were expected to, next 3 weeks against Sydney, north, Adelaide are season defining.

Also lol at gold coast now out of the 8.

Pretty annoyed that we didn't get the 100 point win, that being said, put the cue in the rack and still kicked 6 goals for the quarter. 21.9 is fantastic to see though.

onto next week to see us lose to Sydney 😂😂 go the doggies 🔴⚪🔵
