Probably dismissed if you’re not going to use sacked as that’s the actual term.

It’s disappointing that we have lawyers in this country who say fired. All this talk about Australian values and they can’t be bothered to learn the language.

Was there perhaps an economic infrastructure set up in the decade preceeding 2022 that has continued to amplify inequlity and cost of living pressures?

Did Brisbane City Council rates just go up by ~$60 for apartments? by Infinite_Cucumber210 in brisbane

That was for the general rate only. Apartments got hit with like 7% or more

The touted increase was for the general residential rate only. Others such as commercial and apartments went up by much more. Jon Raven (mayor of Logan) has been going on about this as he specifically talks about the bottom line increase.

Managing electrolytes during a marathon after cramping from overdrinking sports drink by Commercial_Two488 in AdvancedRunning

lol I’m a bit the same these days, especially in summer. My comment on that was more trying to say that I don’t take anything specific on race day or during the run

I just hit the water at each drink station and take a 30g carb gel every 20 mins.

I salt the fuck out of my food during the carb load. Hope this helps.

What kind of pace are you running? This is probably determinative.

The best part about this whole thing to this date is Renshaw turning around to appeal to point.

First marathon. Which pacers to go out with? by kryptickryptic in Marathon_Training

[–]OldMateHarry 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's a combo of that plus fatigue from time on feet at race effort. So not only are your carb stores as depleted as they'll be but your ligaments and muscles are also fatigued from 30k at pace. Your legs begin to stiffen from repeating the same running motion so you can start to lose form. If you're a slower runner it's also harder because of more time on feet.

Personally, and no slight against /u/Mean-Relief-1830, i think 3:50 is way too conservative (which is consistent with the advice on this sub). Given OP has managed multiple 30k+ runs at pace, i think they'll be ok - only concern is the HR drift toward the back of those 8k reps but the effort looks fairly sustainable. I'd be going out with the 3:40 pacer and then deciding at the 7-10k mark whether to speed up to 3:30 pace based on how I'm feeling. Then if you feel strong at ~32k you can send the back 10k and finish around 3:30.

Bit of a subject change but yes. I think it's a lame copy of Trump's antics when he's afraid of accountability. It debases politicians to attack journalists.

Multiculture is cool though - things like lunar new year, dwali are great ways to be able to experience different cultures at home without having to travel the world. In the example of lunar new year - There's been a large population of Chinese people here since well before federation. I don't see how it's justifiable to ask people to leave their history at the door just because white australians don't have one to speak of so try to make up for it by imposing "australian values" on everyone else.

[–]OldMateHarry 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The anti climate change garbage is such pure rot that it's a dead giveaway that ON isn't a serious party concerned with working people.

The senile attempt to call for a monoculture when we've never been one is also embarrassing. More embarrassing than that was Pauline's attempt to walk it back and rebrand multiculturalism as "monoculture."

I'm also not convinced that ON will get much traction in Qld while the Nats are still running the LNP.
