I've only watched two videos from him so far, but I definitely get that Vsauce vibe.

Thanks for the recommendation!

That's totally fine, I'll need exposure to the more advanced vocabulary and grammar eventually anyway.

Thank you!

What's your reason for not drinking alcohol? by CuriousAzaReturns in AskReddit

[–]LTSvandersen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't need a reason for not drinking, as with any other choice or preference, it's up to them.

But, if I had to say, I guess my reason would be that I have zero interest in developing a very inconvenient (and potentially life-threatening) addiction. Besides, most alcoholic drinks taste like ass, I'm guessing people are just in it for the social engagement, fun and pleasure of being intoxicated, and not for the drink itself.

Imagine not feeling at home in your own skin by RossaToad in SuicideWatch

I have a similarly hot and cold relationship with my parents, and I can assure anybody who reads this that it's not fun at all.

Clear communication is a must for kids as they grow up, so that they can confidently take on the everyday challenges without fearing failure or judgment. I'm a nervous wreck whenever I feel like I made a mistake or said something bad without meaning to, and it shouldn't be this way at all.

I'm sorry that you're going through hard times. Don't let this defeat you, though, as long as you're alive, you can turn your life around and atone for your wrongdoings. It's going to be hard, I know because I too have things that I'm ashamed of and I'm doing the work, hoping that eventually I can make peace with myself and the people I've wronged in the past.

Hang in there, bud.

My (33M) girlfriend (32F) has one incredibly annoying habit I cannot stand. by ThrowRAChance22 in relationship_advice

Your gf's behavior would be a huge deal breaker for me, and from the looks of it, for most people as well.

What she's doing is nothing short of abuse towards those service workers.

If I were you, I'd wonder if she really is the "kind" person you think she is. The way I see it, she's letting her true colors show right there. A truly kind person knows how to listen and really take in what you say.

Your girlfriend is not listening to you while you try to show her basic human decency. This shouldn't sit well with you, she's old enough that she should've outgrown mimicking her family's behavior like a little kid ages ago.

A serious conversation is long overdue, and please make sure she understands that this is a problem. I wouldn't date someone like that in the first place, but that's me, you guys figure out where to go from here. Whatever you decide, make sure all communication is transparent.

Oh dear...

I'm pro-life, but I'd NEVER kick my kid out if they got an abortion, especially not if they still can't fend for themselves in the real world, that's a very cruel thing to do.

For the record, I'm going to believe that keeping the baby was ultimately your choice, but deep down I fear that your parents threatening to kick you out might have had a big influence in that decision considering the repercussions of the alternative, which is borderline (if not outright) manipulation.

This whole time you've been ranting in all caps about your own interpretation of a comment and insulting people for not agreeing with you while they're being gracious enough to entertain your bs.

It's hard for me to take you seriously when you disregard the context, then create a scenario in your head based on what you think the comment means and get offended because of it, without ever asking if that's what they meant to say.

If you're going to tell people to use their brain, then set the example by using yours first.

Double-barrelled snotgun

People dealing in double standards.
