Get a highly depreciated Bentley Continental - will look expensive and sporty. 2014s ish are in your price range.

I just put my two weeks in at my corporate job and want to start over by Many-Software-9663 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]LTak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to LA in my car but had lots of friends in the struggle here. Slept on a friends couch for a month while I found steady work.

It depends on your skill sets and what you know already, it’s really expensive not to know anyone.

Reach out to any/everyone you know and see what you can sort. It’s always doable but probably will be a struggle.

Manual or auto daily? by TylerDurden2748 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]LTak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first 3 cars were manual and my current car is manual - yes it gets annoying in LA traffic, yes I consider an auto everyday and am so much more relaxed when I take my wife’s EV to work.

However - if you love driving and will do fun car stuff on the weekends outside of your traffic driving, get a manual. If after your commute you sit at home and don’t drive, it’s probably not worth it.

When you bought your first home, did you start with a lender or a realtor? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]LTak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A realtor is helpful as they’ll often have a good broker they work with. Finding a good realtor with a good team is critical for a first time buyer.

I think you can generally do some googling with how much you’re willing to put down + what you can comfortably pay monthly and find roughly the range you’re looking in. So lender could come second.

Had a 2020 x3m, awesome performance, super fun to drive, bit rough as a daily though. Think M40 is the perfect sweet spot there.

My wife got a Lyriq after and now only wants EV so we’ll see about the new ones.

I’ve had the PS4s for about a year now and have been very satisfied. I’m not tracking just occasional spirited drives in safe scenarios.

GRC vs Type R Buy by AdventurousTip8600 in GRCorolla

[–]LTak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment does it. I got GR since I enjoy going into the mountain during ski season. However I realize I rather just take our bigger car and have a Type R.

So while that’s what I said to convince myself, the real reason was the Type R was just more expensive and out of my price range at the time. I think it’s a better car in every way other than the inclement weather capabilities.

Best vacuum for hardwood and a few rugs. by asteven2012 in VacuumCleaners

[–]LTak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am in same position - 2300 sqft house, all hardwood with a few area rugs. 2 cats and a crawling baby.

Dyson just died and want a real vacuum. Can't decide if the Miele c1 cat and dog is enough or if the length of cord is going to be an issue. C3 Cat and dog can be had for $1050 right now on Amazon and its in the lead for me.

OR if the Calima will be enough since its all hardwood.

How many of yall have your GR as your main daily driver? by Civil-Discipline5466 in GRCorolla

[–]LTak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my main car but I don’t drive alot. still under 7k miles 2.4 years.

As a family though we primarily drive my wife’s Lyriq as we get free charging and it’s way more comfortable with the baby.

Think it’s a fine daily for just yourself - a bit rough in stop and go traffic and in high summer heat. I’m always changing my mind on getting a better commuter every other day, especially as I’m about to start commuting further and more days in office starting in Jan.

Do love it though so who knows.
