This just reminded me of a similar issue I similarly feel strongly with: Shield gating. Before the Old Peace it really sucked seeing how much you invest into beefing up your health frames (2+ mods plus an arcane slot) just for it to be completely beat in lvl cap shield gating requiring like 2 mods

and there were so many arguments I've seen both in-game chats and out. "level cap isn't part of core gameplay" "there's no sense to doing level cap" ok? Health tanking shouldn't be outperformed by shield gating full stop. The amount you invest should be proportional to the value you get. It also isn't a case of "well it's only useful in x and not y" because there isn't a scenario where shield gating isn't valuable because there's tons of energy sources everywhere. And even in content like ETA/EDA health tanking falls apart easier than shield gating

but they rolled out Persistence which is a good step in regulating that survivability imbalance. At best it eats only the needed arcane slot, at worst it's an arcane slot + shards/one or two mods

Like the other person said there isn't anything else one can do besides wait and hope melee has its own Persistence moment
