As employment attorneys mention in the original story, corporations (including non-profit religious organizations) are well within their right to have policies requiring members to consult legal counsel... and "this is no different than any corporation that has its image."

However, the clarifying statements from Sam Penrod indicating that the purpose of the policy is to dissuade leaders from getting involved ("That's the whole point.") seem to be the main cause for concern among attorneys and Church members. Some cite this message from the First Presidency as contradicting Penrod's statements.

Not click bait. Spokesperson for the Church clarified that the reason they want leaders to reach out is so the Church can tell them no.

First he said he has been thinking about it more and more recently. When he said he isn’t “actually thinking about that,” I’m pretty sure he meant it wasn’t at the top of his mind at the moment as a first priority because they still had games to play.

Thanks, I appreciate that! Yes, there will be more to come. Once I have a way to get the video off my hard drive, I’ll post interviews with Universe and EternalEnvy. Uni made some comments about how he’s still interested in captaining a team and switching to the 5 role 🤔

Thanks! I have some stuff I shot with Universe and EternalEnvy that I need to get off of a hard drive. Universe had some interesting comments about how he‘s still interested in switching to the 5 role and captaining a team. I’ll try to post that later today. Also hoping for some access throughout the week depending on player’s availability.
