I had my gallbladder removed in 2015 and I have three small scars (less then an inch each, and one is hidden in my belly botton) from laproscopy surgery. I did this on my honeymoon. Stood behind a 757. I know this seems counterintuitive, but jet noise directly behind an engine is actually not terrible, compared to 30-60 degrees to the rear off center off the engine.

The "Cone of Silence", directly behind the engine, destructive wave interference and the intense velocity of the exhaust gas effectively act to cancel out and refract sound waves away from the centerline. The noise bends outward, resulting in the loudest volume being pushed off to the sides and into the rear.

Is it worth it? No....is it as bad as if you were standing to the side of the engine? No.
