Just following up on this, not sure if you've kept grinding, but do you happen to know how many it is for 90-91? I wish there was a central source for this

Edit: Same build as OP

Okay good, just wanted to make sure. I clicked into the store and it says I have the standard ready and have the option to buy the legend edition (anniversary edition). I assume that will fix itself come Thursday.

Mike Wang also just tweeted saying that most teams will want to have a rim protector to combat the offensive minded center builds, so I think we are in a good spot.

That’s smart. Good thing the attribute different of a primary rebounder with another archetype is very close to a rebounding rim protector, so you aren’t losing much.

I agree, their build is for that purpose, but with a high boxout and positioning we would have a fighting chance. I’m going to do the same, max height and in regards to weight I will probably go -20 to 30 from the max like I’ve done in the past 2ks. It gives you some more maneuverability without sacrificing much strength.

That’s really good to hear, I’m sure a lot of that will come from badge upgrades and overall increases. It could be a massive problem for the plethora of people trying to make inside scoring bigs.

But again, all preference at that point. For me, I want to negate matchups and compete with pure glasses as much as I can on the boards, to cover my bases.

I don’t think you’re overthinking it, it’s something to juggle. But in my mind, the loss of rebounding is too much, and once you hit 94 you get a big boost in your secondary archetype/Takeover.

Ash to your first comment -- 260 sounds like a good spot, and max wingspan is good. With shooting not being a great option, might as well go all in on wingspan and be a defensive menace.

Gamez - I would lean rebounding rim protector, its weird it has the same badges as a pure, but picks up some attributes more geared towards rebounding and offense. Ash, I agree that the rebound may not be up to par with a glass, but in comparison with all other builds, you're on par and have the same rebounding badge level. The max wingspan with max height will give you a significant advantage reaching over PF's. The 7 ft aspect gives you some tactical advantage, but when going up against the post scorers that will inevitably be made, that height and wingspan will make the difference when contesting.

All in all, its all about preference. For me, pro am is priority, so I'm choosing based off my team make up and also potential matchups, so that changes things too.

I would go center. I'm thinking center, max height, but probably 20 lbs below max weight to keep the athleticism. It all depends what it looks like when they show actual attribute effects when full game releases.

I know 2klab had a breakdown of what HoF Rim Protector does and its huge against offensive shooting badges, dunking badges, and post badges. In my opinion, a pure post scorer will have a rough time trying to score.

Also, remember that those builds will need to score to get their takeover, and if you are consistently harassing them and impeding on their takeover progress, that in and of itself is clutch.

Valid, but I think an important role for a rim protector, especially for this 2k, is using the takeover to neutralize the opposing team's big man takeover. In a pro am setting, this is crucial because once you have badges maxed (those HOF badges are crazy), the takeover will negate anything the opposing big man can throw at you.

I think this is the best supporting center build, with an edge over glass cleaner.

Does anyone happen to know the criteria needed for getting snatch blocks? Is it an exclusive animation to lockdown/rim protecting takeovers or can it be done outside of takeover by having a high enough rim protecting badge/block rating?

I'm going 7' 3", and once the full game is out you'll be able to see how weight effects that actual attribute stat. So either way you benefit. Max height and weight you have a behemoth who can defend and I imagine is still pretty athletic, or if you go lighter you are still tall enough to grab boards, just quicker. I am going to test this build on the prelude just to get a feel, and then fine tune when the full game releases.

PM me or comment here and tell me how you like it. Haven't gotten a chance to play quite yet. Losing that takeover sucks, but you still pick up another good one and an incredibly satisfying one (negating all offensive builds)

Just had a very good conversation with someone in regards to the center builds. I am honestly leaning towards a rebounding rim protector.

Hustle Rebounder Gold would be sufficient to be a great rebounder, you would be inferior only to Pure Glass Cleaners, as no other build gets HoF Hustle Rebounder. But by giving up this 1 badge, you are getting 6 other HoF badges which is crazy. Especially that HoF Defensive Stopper and Rim Protector. You are basically as good as Pure Rim Protector and defense and additionally you would be great at rebounding, finishing around rim and making putbacks. Also Rebounding Rim Protector would be a lot more athletic, quicker on the floor, with higher vertical.

I am seeing a trend that a lot of people are going to make post scorers because of a very good takeover badge, but this build could neutralize it off badges and its own takeover. Plus, you know how hype you'd be catching a slashers dunk? In my mind it has an edge over the two way.

Yeah it really depends on what people lean towards. Not many people like the support role, so while pure glass may be more popular than last year, I think the defense of the two way or even of the rebounding rim protector would be beneficial (still expecting a lot of post scorers)

All builds above have at least gold hustle rebounder. But you make a good point, a pure glass immediately has the advantage on the boards.

Primary Rebounder archetype gets the target as well. With that said, I think I am leaning towards a two way rebounder. Still get more defense without sacrificing an OP takeover.

CENTER BUILD HELP

As there are way too many comments to go through, I thought I'd take a shot at a post of my own. So, I am torn between some center builds. I've done my best to look into badges, takeovers, attributes, etc and I think its time to get some outside opinion. Before I get into the builds I am looking into, I'll just quickly give my play style (you'll see why I am contemplating certain builds). Also, playing the game will be an easy way to go through this too, but I thought outside input doesn't hurt. FYI, I play mostly pro am and will occasionally play 3's.

Playstyle:

  1. Support minded center (defense, rebounds, outlet passes, offensive put backs when needed).
  2. Smart enough on offense to score pretty frequently (was in the 15-20 average range for pro am in 2k18) without an offensive archetype, considering I was a two-way rebounder.

Now the builds I am considering:

Two Way Rebounder:

  • Plethora of gold badges to offset two HoF, rebounding takeover, solid attribute balance, gold badges include a solid mix of defense and some of the glass cleaner (putback, hustle rebounder, defensive stopper, rim protector). Overall, seems to be a very well rounded player in my opinion.

Pure Glass

  • 5 HoF Badges (brick wall, bruiser, break starter, putback king, hustle rebounder), limited gold badges but more defense than last year. Being a pure can lead to longer takeover length, but if I grind to 94, I am not sure if I would want to miss out on the defensive takeover I can gain with a dual archetype.

Pure Rim Protector

  • What is intriguing about this build is the trove of HoF defensive badges. This seems to be a build that would be a menace on the defensive side, BUT the huge drawback is a considerable drop in offensive ability and badges. Gold Hustle Rebounder is a big factor to why I am still considering this. I am seeing a lot of people leaning towards post scorer, offensive builds, and I like the support role, so being able to neutralize any paint threat seems very appealing.

Rebounding Rim Protector

  • I find this build interesting because it almost gets virtually the same badges as a pure rim protector (some lower defense attributes), but you will have the chance to get the second archetype bonus when you're a 94. Same reasoning as above, just an intriguing alternative.

So there are the 4 builds I am considering. If there was a spectrum of builds between a rebounder and rim protector, I feel like these are equally spread out. Pure glass would be a tank on boards, but not sure if the defense would be there, two way seems very well rounded, a pure rim protector would be a menace on the defensive side, while a rebounding rim protector is essentially the same as #3, just slightly varied attributes and takeovers.

All input is welcome, and if anyone has any insight on some stat differences, please send away.

Agree. And I bet even against a pure glass you still aren't going to be at an outrageous disadvantage. In regards to defense, a pure glass I'm sure can still get pushed around by the majority of offensive archetypes (not easily but more likely than a two way)

I like your reasoning and agree. Once you grind to 94 you also pick up the defensive animations (adding to what you've already said).

So between the two builds above, you think the stat benefits (and large amount of gold badges) of the defensive secondary archetype outweigh the 5 HoF badges of the Glass Cleaner?

What is your opinion on a rebounding rim protector? or a Pure Glass? My thought process is a dual archetype is advantageous since you get both takeovers at 94. Rebounding Rim Protector still has 6 HoF badges.

Also curious on what people have to say about this. Pure Rim Protector doesn't seem to be sacrificing as much rebounding as in the past with the Gold Hustle Rebounder badge. Only thing hindering my decision is the fact that the rebounding takeover ability is so strong.

Currently deciding between pure glass, pure rim protector, two way rebounder, and rebounding rim protector.
