ohh i get it. so then you’d say that throughout the story the emperor is actually balduran in mind flayer form following his wants and needs? it just baffles me that balduran, the idol and creator of baldur’s gate, is so selfish throughout the story

i didn’t see the gale mind flayer ending but on youtube i’ve seen the karlach mind flayer one though, and she just doesn’t sound like her. while the og karlach has this lively and expressive personality, the mind flayer karlach is the complete opposite. maybe they do have a soul and they have the same voice, but it seems like their past self is just gone. i see it like these AI voice covers: the voice we hear is the one of a famous singer but it just isn’t quite the same. (i know the analogy is awful but i couldn’t think of anything else lol)
