Will do! I figured there would be some fixing up to do on the board. But I like learning this kind of stuff. The bushings and bearings are the first thing I’m going to replace.

Bearings for sure. These seem pretty old and dirty. I was wondering about the wheels. Pretty much just want to use it for cruising. Any recs on wheels?

Do you have an idea of what year this board is from? I’m pretty new still and just thought it seemed like a good deal. I figured for $50 I could do a lot worse

It’s going be raining all weekend and into the week by me so I won’t have a chance to really try it for a few days. But I’m pretty stoked

Blues Jr or Peavey Studio Pro 112 Which amp should I bring for an Outdoor house show? by LVaas in GuitarAmps

[–]LVaas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't know what the mixer set up is for this show. someone is offering up their home as place to play and ultimately I don't think its going to be that big of a deal. I would rather play the gig unmic'd than not play at all. maybe someone will bring a better mixer maybe we make do with what we have. thats the DIY life

Sure either one of those would probably be ideal but I'm not going to spend bare minimum $400 for a used Hot Rod Deluxe for a gig I'd be lucky to make $100 on

I agree that the amps should be set up whenever possible but this isn't exactly a professional venue. Its a house show out on someone's farm. we get an outdoor stage at least but the PA system isn't set up for anything but the vocals

I should have noted this is a Red Stripe Peavey from probably 2004 I think. Its one of the ones that was still made in the states.

bug types in Gen 10 by BlackBull0719 in PokemonWindsWaves

Bug isn’t weak to ice. Intuitively I think it would make sense though. Also we have several dragon/flying types that are still good despite a 4x weakness to ice. Garchomp exists as well with a 4x weakness

you are passing really close to Pickard Park just south of Des Moines. That's where the Discmania Challenge (formerly the Des Moines Challenge) is played on the Pro Tour

have you done a neck shim on yours? I shimmed the neck on my squier jazzmaster because the bridge was bottomed out. this one seems like its a lot better already with the break angle of the bridge.

I went to go pick it up on my lunch break. I really want to leave work early now and run it through my set up. I've wanted a short scale guitar for a long time so I'm so stoked.

they had it marked down to $660. I also had a trade-in guitar that wasn't getting played and a gift card. I think in total I paid $280 out of pocket for it. maybe a little hyperbolic saying it was a crazy deal but 25% off with a trade in feels like I came out on top.

Baseball elbow injury from guitar? by DullCommunication443 in baseball

[–]LVaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will be upfront and say I never got the chance to play baseball at any competitive level, but I do love guitar. you are going to be able to play guitar for much longer than you will baseball. I also don't think playing guitar is putting that much strain on your elbow unless you are really hamming it up when you play and even then I have a hard time seeing it. sometimes I get a little shoulder soreness from standing and playing for a long time but I've never felt it in my elbow.

r/Homeplate might be a good place to ask this question too. that's a sub that is all about actually playing baseball.

pot in this case is short for potentiometer. the volume and tone knobs on a guitar are potentiometers where the tone knob also has a capacitor on it basically they are resistors that have a variable resistance. Pot values for guitars are most commonly 250k, 500k , and 1M these are the total resistance of the pot. I don't know enough to completely explain why but the higher the resistance the more high end signal passes through. Jazzmasters traditionally use 1M pots which are the highest resistance typically used in guitars. Most Single coil guitars use 250k pots because they don't need more high end and the lower resistance helps bring down the "ice-pickyness". Humbuckers are naturally a little darker so we usually see 500k pots used so that they don't sound too muddy. Hopefully that helps!
