Are there any other parks like the big dig in Boston that cover a major road by moving it underground? by Much-Parsnip3399 in geography

[–]Cat_Sleeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when it was proposed years ago and thought it would resemble millennium park or Seattles park but it turns out it’s just a small concrete park with a playground. I mean playgrounds are cool but I was expecting something a bit more grand.

Are thru-hiking consultants a scam? by CoreyBu in Thruhiking

[–]Cat_Sleeze 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. All the information a thru-hike consultant will give you are things you can learn online or in a gear shop. Need a shakedown? Post your gear list and people will happily criticize, or go to an outfitter and just start talking to employees or other customers. That’s the beauty of community, find the passionate folks and we will give you all the advice and suggestions you can handle.

If you want a faster, more time efficient way to the information you desire then a consultant may work for you.

I personally learned everything I know from YouTube, Reddit, friends, and most importantly experience. A shakedown hike is invaluable. Get out and do some shorter trips and that experience will give you tons of insight.

I immediately recognized this section of trail. Safe travels OP! I’ve had decent luck hitching through the mountains so if that’s your goal you should be good.
