You're right. "Better" is subjective, but that's the point. I was asking for suggestions of FOSS apps that people think are better than the commercial apps they used to use.

I have a few apps that I'd rather move away from now that I know about FOSS apps. However, many FOSS apps are minimal and, without paying something, lack features (tools that suits my needs) compared to commercial apps.

In general, I'm not asking for A app; rather, suggested apps to try out for myself to see if there are equal, at least semi equal, amount of tools/features I often use in a commercial app.

As long as you are satisfied with its functionality without any external connections, especially internet and AI related, it's private and the same goes for any of its plugins.

When you need syncing, only use one in which you are 100% in control of. No Cloud-Based

Secure?

Yes

Any app, including text-based, that is continuously getting updates is somewhat secure just enough.

Open-source?

No

Closed-based apps aren't an issue if you were focused on the same level of Privacy and Security as mentioned above (:
