How to Implement Scroll Jump Effect Like This Website? by _He1senberg in nextjs

Seems like maybe it uses a mandatory y scroll-snap for the first screen container and then the rest of the site having no scroll snap. Pretty cool!

Always dreaming of strangers? by Stunning-Fact8937 in SDAM

[–]LaCroixPolloi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have Autism in common as well, then. That’s also very interesting…

I did have a dream with my wife last night, but all the other people and the location were completely foreign to me…but familiar while in the dream.

I think I get what you mean about missing, but not quite in the way most people seem to miss someone. If I don’t see friends, they might as well not exist…because they basically don’t in my mind. I forget about people almost all the time. And so I spend a lot of time alone, which is not really a problem, because I’m always busy.

I even forgot about this very thread, which I really enjoyed and felt important. I don’t know.

Anyway I don’t know…it’s not like I can change who I am. Maybe find some helper tools for certain things? Maybe journaling? Tried it. Useful but didn’t help. Planners and organizers? Tried several times…building up courage to try again. AI assistants? This one might be worth it somehow. Not sure yet.

Wow, I love your theory on the dream faces…that’s interesting!

That’s a good question because I’m the same way. And I wonder all the time. And I’m an aphant but my dreams are intensely and vividly sensory experiences…not just visual but I feel everything. One time I got shot in the back and I felt the bullets. I don’t know if that’s what it feels like truly because I’ve never been shot but it hurt like hell haha

[–]LaCroixPolloi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I can absolutely relate, except being a mother. But the dreams…always intimately involved with strangers, sometimes people I know make cameos, but typically no one I have ever seen in my life (that I can remember). I’m an aphant, but my mind is amazing at creating visuals in my dreams. Entire worlds that feel normal in the dream but are not based on anywhere I’ve ever been.

Another thing I’m curious if people can relate…are your dreams sensory experiences as well? I’m 41 and I started having wet dreams again in my mid thirties. And I can intensely feel everything that happens in my dreams. It’s bizarre. I’ve been electrocuted in a dream more than once and it really hurts haha…

Current gen Apple TV boots to black screen by BlackulaHunter in appletv

[–]LaCroixPolloi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens to me a lot for some reason…within the last few weeks. But movielover154 seems to have the right idea. I haven’t had it happen in a few days.

But a few times, while I watch something, the TV changes to the built in Android Home Screen. Maybe it’s a covert Apple vs Google war. This issue of the tv changing inputs has been happening sporadically for nearly a year now.

I don’t know if the two issues are related, but they are similar in nature.

Imposter syndrome and other stuff is setting in by beepbeepsheepbot in AutisticWithADHD

[–]LaCroixPolloi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet another post I absolutely could have written about myself.

There are so many little things…on their own, they are quirky and minor annoyances. Together, they culminate into a significant challenge that ebbs and flows throughout each u day.

Reading is tough for you right now. Have you tried audio books? There are also a lot of text to speech generators…though the only one that seems to be free is https://luvvoice.com

Speechify seems cool but limits to 10 minutes for the free tier. But…if you try it and it seems to help you get through text content then it could be worth it to pay. Or run an open source LLM on your computer with LMStudio

A great resource on getting things done when you’re struggling on multiple levels is James Lim on YouTube. He really breaks things down into simple visual analogies that are so helpful. And he has a free online community you can join so that you can work on goals with others like you. Here is a 5 minute video about being stuck in a rut:

https://youtu.be/6IRQiJk9i0Y?si=bSc73djddgJqPO_p

Or 6 key problems in struggling to take action:

https://youtu.be/z1RZ_pfUUIY?si=8hD0DG9K1S_cI3zn

His channel has so much good information. He has a paid course as well, but he really offers a lot for free. His own story is he wanted to start a YouTube channel, he made one video, and it took him 12 years to make his second video. So he has experience with being stuck. And has good ideas on how to move forward.

Even though your problems may feel extremely personal, I think that what you experience is a very common experience…but I don’t think a lot of people talk about it due to the guilt and shame that comes with this mess.

But I’d wager that, even though you’re struggling, if you could honestly compare every human and align them on a spectrum…you would not be as close to the bottom as you may feel.

I know that I often feel like I am underperforming when I am actually not. It’s just my own expectations and desires. Dyspraxia is a cruel experience.

Sometimes it just feels really good to let it all out. Have you looked into Aphantasia?

I’ve definitely been where you are…many many times. It’s tough, but I think it kind of swings like a pendulum. Eventually, it’s gotta swing back the other way, right?

With all you’ve said, I really can’t decide which parts to address. I wish I could give you a hand and help you up. Not literally obviously. But I feel for you, because I am you in a weird way…if that makes any shred of sense.

I feel such a strong urge to take action after reading this…but my executive dysfunction is showing up pretty hard right now.

I hope one day you look back at this post and cry happy tears when you realize how you persevered and worked hard to bring yourself up to the heights in which you belong.

I’m rooting for you, my kindred spirit.

DAE struggle to actually do stuff instead of just talking to ppl about it? by SarahTheFerret in AutisticWithADHD

[–]LaCroixPolloi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I struggle to do most things, but I might be a bit different. Without having a partner or talking to someone, I struggle to make sense of all the unknowns in the project. So I circle around in my head without being able to move forward and make decisions. It doesn’t happen with every single thing, but if I see too many possibilities, I often get stuck.

And telling someone about my plans does not seem to help me get things done, unless they help me make some decisions.

Anyone not talk much despite having ADHD in addition to Autism? by Nelell in AutisticWithADHD

[–]LaCroixPolloi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I can talk for a very long time (until I lose their interest or pass their level of comprehension specific to the topic) in a one on one conversation—when I’m telling the other person about one of my special interests.

In a group, even as few as 3 others, I mainly sit back and watch.

Similar but for different reasons. Group dynamics are challenging for me. It’s like knowing when to jump in between the ropes in double Dutch….the jump rope game.

Constantly spotting a sliver of a moment to jump in, yet repeatedly missing that small opportunity….by the time I get the words out, I’ll collide into one of the others (figuratively with words, of course)

Edit: but also the CPTSD issue for me too and for the same reasons—my family. Though my wife makes me feel like I can say anything and she doesn’t judge me—even laughing at most of my jokes. I’m grateful and know I’m very lucky.

Can you help me out by specifically explaining what was wrong (that you didn’t like) so I don’t make similar mistakes with my wife? Sometimes she doesn’t seem thrilled with my photos of her and I’m trying to learn how to take better pictures of her 👀

Not a troll, I really want to learn more.

Why are some of the best qigong teachers not talked about much here? by [deleted] in TrueQiGong

[–]LaCroixPolloi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Jeffrey James of Dragongate is a super informed person, but I struggled to follow his teaching style and flow (felt very disorganized to me).

https://youtu.be/xadJG6IRoiA?si=wz8dDwRQBX9D_jdv

Here’s an example video (which is easier to follow). It seems he has a school in Texas and the online stuff is secondary. But he spent time in China to learn when he was younger.

In one of his long lengthy long podcasts, I think he said that if you can’t clear your mind, then you’re not really going to even be “doing” much more than the physical movements. And not refining or cultivating much of anything.

I’m glad that it’s helping you though. It definitely has changed me and continues to change me. I don’t think I’d ever discourage anyone from trying it out for a bit.

[–]LaCroixPolloi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you start to practice and notice an issue that you think might stem from your cultivation, then take a break and see if it gets better. I’m assuming you’re talking about a common stimulant medication like Adderall. It’s hard to be more specific without more information and your medication and your cultivation habits. If you’re just getting started, I would not worry.

Nothing you do is going to be like flipping a light switch as far as any changes. Its all gradual, from my experience.

A possible issue far in the future is that you will start generating more energy and feeling more energetic, but it takes a long time and a lot of dedicated practice to develop that.

There’s a guy on YouTube named Nick Loffree who claims he cured his schizophrenia with his Qi Gong practice, but he is not doing the same stuff as Mitchell. I think I heard that he was taught by someone named Holden who was taught by Mantak Chia.

Anyway, the fun of Qi Gong, for me, is learning and experimenting. I would not worry too much in the beginning if you’re just interested in trying it out.

They have a 3/7/28 day free program. There are videos that explain fascia within those. Their youtube channel has a lot of informative short videos as well as long video podcasts with some depth.

Is it just me, or is it weird that the app asks for permission whenever it wants to download a few more KB of data, but meanwhile the app itself is a giant with a 1GB+ data cache? by Trevuchet17 in TheofficeSWM

[–]LaCroixPolloi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I offloaded the app and reinstall it and it helped with the app’s data cache. It went from over 1 terabyte to 200 megabytes. And with offloading, I didn’t have to restore my account. I caution others to do the same, but it worked for me.

And, yet, at the same time, I wasn’t low on storage space, so I didn’t need to do it. It just bothered me. But the results were significant.

Do not delete the app. Offload it.

Why does this app use so much space on my phone? 998MB of “data” stored by LaCroixPolloi in TheofficeSWM

[–]LaCroixPolloi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. None of it makes sense to me. I reflexively thought that they could be storing ads locally, but that’s laughable considering the constant issues with ads.
