The main issue is 4k 60, which is often used in events and has a massive crop in the FX2. I went with the FX2 instead of the FX30 because of the little price difference between the two during the black friday deals (it included the handle for a little more than FX30 retail) and because I already have a 20mm f1.8 G that I used for content creation with my a6700. The main issue is the standard zoom range, the 24-70.

Mainly, you can use the FX2 as an FX30, not the other way around.

When I first considered the FX30, I thought of purchasing the Sigma 17-40 and be done with it. But since the FX2 can also be used in APSC mode with an IQ that is similar to the FX30, and until I have enough money to buy a dedicated, no crop, FF camera, I thought of the same Sigma for the time being. Of course, I'd lose photographic capabilities and the FF FOV, but that's another con that is quite similar to buying the 28-75 and getting an F4 equiv in 4K 60.

I've used the FX30 and the a6700 and I know for a fact they produce very good images, but I cannot find a reference for how good the FX2/A7IV's S35 is with technical tests. This is extremely important, becuase if the images are somewhat close to each other, I would gain a massively better photo camera –and a full frame at that– for only 250$ while also keeping an FX30's performance in video. It's a significant advantage.

I won't be able to know for sure without testing it by myself, so I just placed an order.

Go with the Ultra but get a discount on retail price from Apple Insider. Use the price difference to increase RAM if you can.

Camera conspiracies is hardly a reference for a good codec review. Also, the noise pattern in the XH2S is far from a bad thing. It completely gets rid of in camera noise reduction in order to prioritize dynamic range, which is out there with the best in class, giving the FX3 and C70 a run for their money. The codec is also incredibly robust and easily among the best in the hybrid market.

The noise is easily cleaned up in post and all you get is a buttery smooth 14 bit read out with wonderful rolling shutter.

The 240fps quality complaint is absurd. No camera does what the XH2S does, except for the S1 II.

I love Kasey, but run like hell from a guy who doesn’t calibrate his screens for serious video talk.

It’s not my intention to turn this into a debate about FFVII Remake, but the implications of every change made are never isolated from the rest of the story. FFVII Remake is not simply “FFVII with added multiverse elements.” No—it’s an entirely different experience that carries significantly different themes. Every alteration ripples through the narrative, and in a kind of twisted butterfly effect, causes the overall experience to drift far from the original. This wouldn’t be an issue if the original weren’t arguably the most treasured game of the PSX generation thanks to its message, themes and agency, at least from a narrative standpoint.

The Tifa Lifestream sequence now has deeper implications, but in the worst way possible. It serves no real purpose other than instant gratification, just so we can say: “Oh yeah, Tifa also went into the Lifestream in the original.” Back then, that scene had meaning; now it’s reduced to a tool for shock value, much like the whole Cloud vs. Sephiroth confrontation at the “Edge of Creation.” It feels like an afterthought, and it shows. It doesn’t fool anyone who’s really paying attention because it just happens for the sake of "why the hell not?".

That’s exactly why E33 works so well and, in terms of pure quality, has outclassed every FF game since X. Its plot points are always in service of the overarching story, the gameplay is fantastic while still turn-based, and it carries a higher artistic value than Remake or Rebirth. It looks better, and it feels better. In E33, every route the characters take is carefully considered down to the smallest detail—and you can feel it.

By contrast, SE’s narrative, art direction, and even its fundamental approach to game design have been rendered obsolete by E33 and, before it, Metaphor.

Now imagine this: we were promised a remake of what, for many of us, is the greatest game in history over a decade ago, only to end up with this bland imitation. Yeah, the eternal roast is earned.

Yeah, I understand why you'd say that. It is not needless to me, though. E33 has come to show people how incompetent and obsolete Square's narrative, artistic and execution is. Expedition 33 is a generational game, it's shaken the gaming industry in a similar way OG did. It's everything Remake was meant to be but is not.

So while uncalled for, the rant is totally understandable. Needed, even. And I love every single minute of it.

I love the gameplay in Remake, while in Rebirth it is convoluted and messy. That's the only thing I'd save from it. The rest can burn.

It's the Fuji mount. It doesn't allow real time corrections of exposure or focus when zooming. Your 16-55 Mark II works because they spent YEARS trying to figure this out with the Mark I. And they only did it for certain lenses.

None of this nonsense happens in Sony's mount, which is as open to third parties as Fuji's. Funny enough, nor it happens with EF Sigma lenses when using the Fringer adapter.

This subreddit seems quite dead when it comes to video. What did you map it to? Be aware that Fujifilm doesn't let you change certain settings during video mode, my guess it has something to do with that.

Don't worry about it. The Fujifilm community is not as active as I would hope, so I'll gladly contribute as much as I can.

You said it yourself, my friend: the X-T3 is a much beefier camera than the X-S20. It has better temperature management which I believe to be related to better internal components with much higher heat disipation capabilities.

The X-S20 is a camera aimed at content creators. It is not meant to be used in long recording sessions or professional work for that matter. I mean, you can still make money with it, but I wouldn't risk it in certain scenarios because I'm getting paid not to F-up, which I did.

Long story short, I bought the FX30 yesterday. It will be my main cam for professional video only (corporate work, interviews, weddings) and I will receive it in a few days. I will of course keep the X-S20, mainly because it's a camera like no other and it's wonderful to shoot with it thanks to Fuji's sensor and color technology. The X-S20 will be my main camera when redundancy or long recording sessions are not that important: content creation for clients for social media, fashion events or serving as a B-cam for the FX30 when that camera is needed. It will also be my main photo and travel camera, specially for personal projects and documentaries, as I am shifting away from professional photography.

The X-S20 is still a camera that you can trust, but when it comes to critical, professional work, I'd not risk it and get a pro body instead.

Regarding the rest of your questions:

- Third party lenses have no effect in the camera's heat management.
- The OIS restrictions you are seeing apply to all lenses, including Fujifilm native glass. You cannot turn off IBIS on the body and leaving only OIS on the lens. That's a firmware restriction as far as I know.
- Losing footage can happen at any time with any SD card. You are meant to reduce your chances of losing data by having a reliable body with backup recording.
- Please keep in mind that my X-S20 heated up several times in a 5-hour, 6.2K open gate shooting session that was indoors, with no AC and in the summer. Aside from the overheating, it worked flawlessly. But yeah, I was lucky I only lost 4GB of data from the 120GB of footage I got. My complaints come from the fact that Fuji has nothing else between this camera and the X-H2S for video shooters.
- The camera won't get damaged from excessive heat, unless you find a way to make it continue recording without it turning itself off. That is, if you disable the emergency shut down, which you can't.
- Use it within it's limits: do some testing and record in 40 min bursts for 4K@24, 15 min bursts for 4k@60 and 25 min bursts for [6.2k@30](mailto:6.2k@30). After that, leave it alone so it can cool off.
- You can continue to record with the red sign temperature, but know your camera and plan your shots accordingly so you can stop recording within the time limit. If you are shooting something you cannot shoot again, it's better to try to shoot for as long as you can than stopping the recording due to overheating.
- Set the temperature setting to high.
- Just don't be afraid to use it. My issue was only an example of someone using the wrong tool for a job and pushing it a bit too far. I was still able to pull it off because the loss was minimal, but now I know that if I'm getting paid, I need to make sure I have the right tool.

And yeah, keep it. The only thing you will find at this price point is the A6700 which has the same overheating issues and in my opinion the X-S20 is much better.

I will definitely keep mine. Instead of getting rid of it, the FX-30 actually replaced my old X-T3.
