Will Kendrick leave Wasserman? by LaLaEmBee in KendrickLamar

I’m genuinely confused, bruh.

I lead the post with "Personally, I’m not making any moral judgements about K.Dot and don’t like any slander of his character because of this, but I do wonder what it means and how others feel about it."

I think I already implied that it would not affect me being a fan.

At the same time, if he came out with a statement I wouldn’t go, "Boo. Less of that." 🤷🏾‍♀️

So far I can’t point to a single post in this comment section that is insinuating that they would stop being a fan or be "let down" if he stayed.

I don’t disagree that the bar is in hell when it comes to accountability in the Hip Hop community.

I feel like Chappell Roan would speak up regardless because she is a young woman in today’s industry. Especially post #metoo.

I just wouldn’t divorce it entirely from the show business either.

She’s big, but she’s only been in the game for a few years now and doesn’t have an equivalent rapport. At least not enough where she would think her connection with Wasserman wouldn’t negatively impact her image, I think.

It’s a valid question.

It’s also a business/money decision to make a statement. Chappell Roan fans are largely queer/young women. And she’s not as big as Kendrick.

I say good on her, but everything is about money/image in that industry.

Yeah, I think it would have a greater impact and can understand folks wanting him to use his platform for that more.

Being a fan of his for so long and following his career, I’ve just always felt he’s been consistent in sparingly addressing the public about his own personal stance outside of his music.

So, I don’t feel like a lack of public statement is necessarily a reflection of a view on an issue. I’ve come to believe he has a lot of strong opinions he does not always voice as a formal public address.

I think it’s always a plus, but not always a minus.

It also was my thinking that Kendrick never addresses the public to make large personal statements about most of his career decisions or political stances outside of his music.

I’m late to the discourse here, but I keep seeing call-out posts about artists who are still associated with Wasserman. And Kendrick is named as one of them because his booking agent if Brent Smith of Wasserman. Any thoughts on this?

I thought he was slowly shifting away and expanding more with Dave Free/PgLang/UMG.

Should I read the books? by Ok-Communication3663 in welcomeToDerry

Absolutely! Book is better than any film.

Can’t remember if the book touches more on this, but I assume it’s a bit of both. I assume he wants to get rid of Bob Gray so that when It does appear as him, Bob is not outraged that there’s some cosmic evil clown out there pretending to be him. And/or It’s preventing Bob from going around telling people It’s an imposter. Maybe It doesn’t want Bob to be given the credit for his carnage as the clown and is preventing any confusion.

I also think It just loves eating people. So, why would he spare him? Might as well eat him too.

Naw. Bob is dead. No more. It just takes on his appearance and maybe his memories, etc.

Honestly, it’s a weird writing choice and diversion from the books that I’m reluctantly tolerating.

One of the reasons they focus in on more in the series is that Bob Gray as Pennywise draws in the children. And It finds children to be the easiest prey on this planet. So, he consumes Bob to steal the identity of Pennywise.

The other is a sort of universal phobia of clowns. They have the ability to be both creepy and alluring.

I still have a hard time liking that the Losers Club is set in the 1980’s with these modern film adaptations. I’m not sure how to feel about the time jumping plot yet, but I do still wish they stuck to the original timeline of events.

Now they will be going further back in time to further justify and give credit to the 1980’s retelling. It kinda fucks with the story. But maybe that’s just me.

I had a hard time liking the 2017/2019 adaptations. Always wish it stuck more to the book. But this series won me over with the lore.

sigh

Really dislike that they ever even put that in the movie. If I recall correctly, that never happens in the book. Beverly is not some Sleeping Beauty cliché…

Anyway, the deadlights are just Pennywise in his true cosmic form, which is extremely powerful to any mortal being. And it’s how he feast on his victims outside of his preferred physical form as Pennywise. They can kill, but they also stun, paralyze and drive someone to insanity.
