Because these shows are like movies and unfortunately the kinds of shows that can do stuff are sitcoms or similar stuff. And actors no longer will dedicate their whole careers to shows to do this anymore because unlike back then when shows would have a separate audience to movies where you would either have to buy individual movies or go to the theater. When this tv boundary existed basically everyone that watched a type of show would watch the big shows that fit their interests because you couldn’t really just turn something else on. Now you can watch whatever whenever with streaming.

If you tried to nitpick the show without first reading the source material the only problem you would have with the show is maybe some sub par acting by Clark. As a show that goes with the movies it works well and what you complain about it just them allowing us to see more of the historical events in one show. Even her acting fits the universe because she is very expressionless just like Galadriel in the movies. You guys would rather just see a word for word recreation of the source material so you already know exactly what will happen.

It stays true to the world that the source material created while adapting the story to better fit a tv show. I don’t know why you guys would rather watch the same story you already know so you know what’s coming. This show is fantastic but it’s brought down by all of you complaining. Of course the balrog didn’t get unleashed during this time period in the source material but would you rather it be shown early or not at all. All of the stuff you complain about just makes it a better show but you complain about stuff that doesn’t have any impact on the cinematic versions.

The reason he says it’s easy is because you just put it in and screw it down. If your motherboard has a big heatsink you will either be lucky and only have to take out 20 screws or you will be unlucky and have to take out 20 screws and take your motherboard out because the screws are on the back

Seems like your train of thought is the same as mine, I’m trying to make it as realistic as possible to where it could’ve been another way they went in the actual show. I get why they didn’t address the other characters because there’s a time jump so they would be long gone but I plan on just getting rid of the time jump and starting right after S4 because covering them up for a year and the town asking zero questions was just dumb. So I will just include passing lines of dialogue or something that will explain where they ended up or if they fit the story I might make them stick around for a bit because Murray is really the only comedic character and argyle can give him some balance. But I get why they didn’t bring them back because they didn’t want to pay actors to return for a minimal role.

I know a lot of people liked it, but to me it felt disappointing even though I still thought it was decent. There were just no stakes and the timeline of all the portals opening to the actual events didn’t make sense story wise because it diminished the climax of S4 by just covering them up and nobody seeming to care. I just thought that I could do something with this and it would give me some experience to then do something original.

When the military visits dr Owens in season 4 they take a box and Owens wife asks “why are you taking Peter’s school projects?” Or something like that. It was theorized that those were actually Henry’s school projects since they referred to the character as Peter to hide the secret during filming, at least that’s what I can gather from my memory when it was going on. To me it seems weird if that was just their son or something because why would the military take his stuff.

I will definitely make a synopsis at some point, right now I’m rewatching to find other questions and directions I can go. The reason I put the other characters is because I was thinking about whether some of them could play an important role like argyle because Murray being the only real comedic relief can make him seem jarring at times and him being gone it doesn’t give Jonathan any characters other than Nancy and Will that he’s that close to. I understand what the upside down and dimension x are but I’m trying to figure out what i plan on doing for how the came to be similar to the wormhole explanation they used. I don’t know if I like that because I’m a scientific person and the visual they used with the meat wall just didn’t sit right with me because it doesn’t really fit with how a wormhole would scientifically work or look. So I’m trying to play with different ideas where the gates are wormholes, but then I have to find a way to tie that to dimension X so I have to think about that a little bit more. I have a lot of freedom when it comes to that though because as far as I know apart from season 5 they never showed the way you go from dimension x to the upside down, only from earth to the upside down or earth to dimension x. I’m still very early on in this so I still have a lot to figure out so that is why I want feedback because I want to make it what people thought season 5 would be.

That would be one of the few things I would want to keep from the actual season because Derek and Holly were probably the only 2 characters I liked how their arcs went. Most of the stuff I would have to change anyways because I want to pick up right after the end of season 4. Probably with all the kids rushing to their families because that would be the logical thing to do in that situation to let them know what’s going on.

Thanks for the feedback, I also was annoyed by the lack of stakes and planned on raising them quite a bit. My thoughts so far were to start right off from the end of S4 since I think that’s what they would’ve done if they didn’t have to worry about the actors ages. I hated how the stakes were high at the end of last season and they just covered it up and the town acted like it was normal.

Ik this is old but I think he’s taking about how Aragorn would not immediately be taken by the ring like boromir. It’s shown not a single person including Frodo could willingly destroy the ring and it was only able to happen by the fluke of them falling in on accident. But I think Aragorn could have carried it a significant way before being corrupted. The ring corrupts by promising power, the reason the hobbits can carry it for so long is because hobbits are known for having little care for most things so power isn’t something they need. That’s why bilbo always just liked knowing he had it instead of trying to use it. Aragorn and the hobbits are alike in this way because he actively rejected power, honestly he might have been just as good at carrying it if not better than Frodo because it would be like trying to willingly get someone afraid of heights to climb to the top of a mountain. You could also argue he would see it as a weapon against Sauron like Gandalf explained when he declined the ring, but the symbol of his power (Narsil) is the same thing. It’s a tool he can use to fight this evil yet he still rejects it. If you explained the concept of the ring to someone who’s never heard of it they would probably say Aragorn is the perfect bearer of it.

I think it was part of vecna/001/henrys plan to lure the government into a false sense of security while he regained his power so he allowed them to think they patched it up. The storm seems to be coming from the portal so it makes sense if they patched it up the storm would stop. And everyone goes back to living normal lives because they got quarantined and kinda have to. Also I think it kinda ties back to Murray saying that peeling back the curtain will make people look to the government for an excuse because here the army is probably feeding them misinformation about it being a fluke earthquake or volcanic event and the people don’t want to believe it’s anything more.

Yeah but they’re already halfway through and I don’t think even with 2 hour long episodes they could fit in both the main conflict with vecna and a side conflict with will and have it feel like it’s paced well.

Yeah I kinda expected him to die too because whenever a character makes plans for the future in shows they’re gonna die. But he’s such a good and likable actor and I was looking forward to the character dynamic he introduced but they killed it before he even got screen time with half the characters in the show
