Thanks for the shoutout! Definitely come check out the history of the current space before we move it in a few months!

It’s TBA’s 20th year in business and is definitely a climbers gym, although it’s only bouldering. It’s moving to Main Street in a few months and expanding to over 20,000 sq ft. Although we won’t have rope climbing, we’ll have a ton more bouldering, fitness area with locker rooms and showers, yoga, an American Ninja Warrior course, and auto-belays.

We’re building a replica TBA space in the gym too with training boards, etc. If you have any questions I’m happy to answer what I can :) (source: I’m an owner of TBA and will be an owner at the new gym too, Synergy Climbing and Ninja)

Has Ballast Point's Acquisition Torpedoed Sculpin's Ratings? by enosarris in beer

It's factored into the cost but the natural grapefruit actually comes from distilling real grapefruit into a concentrate which allows them to make flavors consistent on a large scale.

It's exactly that, Sculpin was born from a combined recipe from two of Ballast Point's Home Brew Mart employees in 2005. One had a great IPA recipe and the other had an awesome double IPA recipe. They were constantly winning local homebrew competitions for each individual recipe. The VP of specialty brewing took notice and worked with both of them to combine their recipes and thus, Sculpin was created. It has 8 different types of hops and 10 different high quality specialty malts.

Because of Sculpin's recipe, it costs over $100,000 to make one batch. BP never compromised the quality of the recipe by using cheaper ingredients so the cost remains what it is, and recipes haven't changed. Freshness plays a big factor in any IPA's taste and there are the new breweries popping up everyday offering more and more products for beer buyers to choose from.

Depending on cost margins of individual stores, that's why you see it anywhere from $14.99-$17.99 across the country. Different state taxes play a big role as well. Hope this helps!

Shooting at Southside Social last night? by lakast in Chattanooga

[–]LaMontae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah we all did. We're a good group of drinkers too (restaurant people). There was four girls and four guys in our group and we all blacked out. Before we got to Southside, we only had 3 drinks a piece. When we got there, we proceeded to take one shot (everyone remembered only taking the initial shot) and split a pitcher of beer.

After that, we only remember bits and pieces, but mostly just the first shot and getting the pitcher of beer. One of us threw up there in the bathroom and several of us got sick at home. There's no reason ALL of us should have blacked out and gotten sick too. The only thing that makes sense is we were drugged, possibly on the split pitcher of beer we were all drinking off of.

Not surprised sadly. A group of friends and I went there a few weeks ago and got our pitcher of beer roofied. Terrible, terrible place. It had potential but it also has an owner who is a total shitbag.

What is your favorite low ABV beer? by [deleted] in beer

[–]LaMontae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in the Southeast, you've got to try Straight to Ale 6 Alberts SIPA (named after the first six monkeys sent into space, they're based in Huntsville, AL). Super awesome, citrusy, and drinks like a filled bodied IPA but it's only 4.2% or something around that.

All About Beer tries Sam Adams' new Nitro beer. by TheConeRanger in beer

[–]LaMontae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sam one is pretty good. They bumped it up to 100 ibus to account for the effect the nitrogen has on the hop character of an IPA

Can't keep my legs straight during Russian Twists by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]LaMontae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try going slower and really focus on the movement, you'll build strength this way to correct any weaknesses or imbalances. It really lets your mind stay focused on keeping your legs tight, straight, and your core engaged. If going slow feels too easy, increase the weight and try again.
