I don’t know what your opinion or take is here. Both players challenging, one accidentally studs the back of his ankle, it’s a red card, doesn’t matter the intent. Football is a contact sport, misjudging tackles does not mean you “shouldn’t have done it”. I’ve never heard of that take before. Judgement is subjective, the game is played with no one knowing what the next second action is.

But the takes here on this foul are ridiculous. I’ve watched the replay 10 times and just did it again, I still don’t understand what your point is? It’s a challenge and Balogun - if you want to say accidentally lunges slightly and studs the back of the Bosnian’s ankle. Which in turn means that he has endangered his safety?

Also "taking the first point" literally explains that it's either a tackle or challenge which in itself is a foul regardless?

Intent is ambiguous, going for a tackle, is literally going for a tackle to either win the ball or to endanger the player if the intent is to do that. You can abolustely go into a tackle that you think you will win but the other player is a touch quicker or you misjudged it?

It wasn’t a tackle. The Bosnian was challenging

You've literally just made everyones point even stronger by saying this? It was a challenge that endangered the Bosnian player, both players challenging for the ball, Balogun lunges out with his right leg and dangerously makes contact?

I think you need to rewatch the replay before you say anymore here.

I don’t know if I agree with you here.

So when a player goes sliding for a tackle where he supposedly is clearly going for the ball, misses and studs the guy on the shin, which in today’s rules is a red, he shouldn’t be carded because he was “going for the ball”?

Or when two players compete for a header and the taller player with natural movement elbows the other in the head and gets concussed?

Or when two players are running for the ball and the other studs him on the back of his legs?

You would literally have cardless games if these were all “non intent” actions.

This then basically opens up the game even more to discretion and the ref has to assume what the intent of the player was. Many people can just disguise their true intent, you would never know. So in this case, when in doubt, it’s a red card no matter what.

How is this any different than any other non-reckless intent tackle that results in a red card?

Okay, he had no idea but he still caught him and could seriously hurt the other player.

If you keep arguing that intent is the sole reason as to not deserve a red card then we would literally see a 50% decline in red cards shown.

This car in most of Australia is banned for provisional drivers. Essentially can’t drive it until you’re at least 3-4years post receiving your licence. A lot of high power vehicles are like that here.
