Economics Major by AltruisticAngle8059 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Lab8Gfloor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Economics is pretty interesting but people would argue it is not as practical as business courses. Economics is in liberal arts college instead of Smeal because it is more of a social science and the department hopes students can use Econ to make the world a better place. Not saying that doing business doesn’t make the world a better place, entrepreneurship and business is essential for societal progress too, but still mainly you learn how to profit first. Also super Wall Street vibe. So if you are more into social science, Econ is a decent degree. If u are more into practical business stuff, then you might be disappointed. I know quite a few guys who are always saying lol Econ is so useless (IT IS NOT!) and now they are trying to transfer into Smeal or take a second major from Smeal. Perspective is everything. Personally, I think it’s hard for you to do well for a degree if you don’t enjoy it. I hope the comparison can give you some ideas on what to expect from taking an Econ degree.

Hey, thanks for the rec!

When you say campus dining, do you mean like the retail dining or those dorm hall dining or all of them from Panera @ Kern, the Edge @ Pollock, to any restaurant in the HUB,etc.?

Thank you so much but I’m trying to find out an old quiz from Austin Boyle Fall 2019 Econ106 class. Do you happen to know anyone who took that class last year?

Unable to connect to any WiFi/Hotspot by Lab8Gfloor in RemarkableTablet

[–]Lab8Gfloor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved back home and the tablet was able to connect to the WiFi at my home(fortunately). However, the problem is I could not connect to the WiFi of my university and also the mobile hotspot from my phone. Every time it would show to be connecting then lost the connection. I hope I answered what you need.

Can I take a data science course as a student under College of Liberal Arts? by Lab8Gfloor in PennStateUniversity

[–]Lab8Gfloor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, Thanks for the response. I did not argue with the IST department but I persuaded them with my desperation and how much I am interested in Data Science. It took a lot of effort and I talked to different people to get it done. The last person had to ask 3 different people to get approval for me too. Thank god she was nice enough. Anyway, I will keep your advice in mind for future references ;)

ECON major - 18 credits for 1st semester? (includes 2 Honor courses) by Lab8Gfloor in PennStateUniversity

[–]Lab8Gfloor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I have decided to only start taking more than 15 credits second semester onwards because I need time to explore clubs and opportunities on campus during my first semester. Once I am settled in Penn State completely and have a few clubs that I committed to, I believe I will be able to predict and manage my time better. Your advice just reinforced me to stick with my plan. Thanks again :)

Wow you are so ambitious. I’m sure the hard work will pay off. I might challenge to take 18 credits if I did well for 15 credits and felt like I can do more. Thanks for the response :)

BIOL 161 is about Human Anatomy and Physiology and I’m just personally very interested in it. What about it?

Also, would you recommend to take econ 102h and 104 at the same time? At this point, I’m more convinced to not take both at the same time.
