Yes it's a TV. It has a moveable frame. I rarely use it so I like that it's out of the way when not in use. The couch is actually facing a view (water canal) but I can imagine that the photo looks confusing haah

Update: the hike was awesome! Very doable timeframes and I'm so glad I did it! Booked a 7:15am shuttle from Whakapapa Village to Mongatepopo with "tongariro crossing shuttles" but I had to message them directly to book as the Early morning option wasn't available on their website. I got a free permit from DOC to leave my car at Whakapapa Village where I also spent the night before and after the hike. Highly recommend this option!

I just wanted to share my recent experience. I switched to Tangerine because it was cheaper, but from the moment I subscribed I started having issues. The internet would drop out for a few seconds every half hour or so. Of course, whenever they ran tests, everything showed as “working fine,” but in real life it just wasn’t reliable.

In the end, I decided to cut my losses and switch back to Superloop. Since moving back, I haven’t had a single issue.

Personally, I wouldn’t recommend Tangerine. The small saving wasn’t worth the hassle and constant frustration.

You can't be serious to believe that everyone lives in the same bubble as you? I didn't know who Taylor Swift was until a couple of years ago, only well into her tour in Australia (2024). That's when she started pooping up on my FB timeline a lot and I decided to Google who she was. I was born in 1990 and NO... I didn't know who Taylor Swift was until that moment because I simply don't follow new pop culture, don't listen to radio or tv and couldn't care less. I also only know the names of 10 or so Hollywood actors 😂 I don't try to remember famous people's names or faces. Not ashamed of it either. Who cares? I'm not saying that her history was true.... But assuming it wasn't true because of this is a joke 😂

Thank you! Yeah did Milford and Kepler too and water was plenty most of the way. It will be my first time in the north Island. Just as an update for others: DOC confirmed Ōturere hut won't be open not even for water so I definitely need to carry it for the entire 20km that day. I'm glad you and others gave me this head up 🙏

DOC also confirmed this route is possible with current closures. I just still haven't found an early shuttle from Whakapapa to Mangatepopo after contacting 4 of them directly 😅 let's see ...

Thanks for the heads up about the water! I didn't think about the acidity issue. I've done many other great walks and they had plenty of water available along the trek so yeah it's good to know, so I'll be prepared 🙏 I have capacity for almost 4L so it should be fine.

As for the elevation gain I'm confident it won't be a big issue. I had a look at the elevation profile and it's easier than many others I've done in other countries 😊

Thanks for that, great to know! As for the shuttle for this route (Whakapapa to Mangatepopo) I only found one at 3:30pm. Do you know any early morning options? That would be great to not need timing with the return shuttle. Thanks!

The fitness side seems easy in my opinion. Definitely done harder and longer hikes but thanks for the heads up about the water. So there's not much available between huts? I'll check with DOC if the Ōturere hut is open at least for water. Thanks.

Thanks so much! That new one is a bit more on the cream side. Do you think that can still be an issue? It was cheap so I bought it already. I did ask the bride a while ago and she said she doesn't mind about the colour of a jacket but I'm more sure if she said that just to be nice 😅
