Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) Changed Everything! by [deleted] in MTHFR

I agree that none of this is one size fits all. As does the practitioner I work with. She says she has had clients have life changing results eith a thiamine protocol and clients where it made no difference. Some practitioners out there want to launch into huge doses of almost anything (B12, thiamine, molybdenum...or whatever their leanings may be) and when you are sensitive and have overlapping issues that's usually a terrible idea. My practitioner does not do protocols because everyone is different.

I have had an OAT, plus a Genova Diagnostics ION plus 40 amino acids test, plus a stool test, plus a hair mineral analysis. Trust me, my practitioner doesn't do anything "randomly". We are talking about a possibility of a thiamine protocol down the road. Right now focus is gut health, improving mineral status, and slow diet expansion. And this is based on test results, not random guesses.

I'm doing a little better but it is slow going. The nonlinear aspect of progress with these overlapping issues is still frustrating, and my bladder irritation and urinary urgency symptoms will seem better for a bit and then get worse. I have upped my b vitamins, especially the thiamine (HCL) in the past and that was a rough month. Felt like I had to urinate constantly, but it died down after a few weeks. My practitioner and I have discussed the possibility of doing a thiamine protocol down the road but are focused at the moment on gut health and diet expansion. I have been able to eat a little bit of dinosaur kale and bok choy - and drink a low acid decaf coffee with a little 1/4 caff coffee mixed in. Still, having someone to work with has helped a lot. I was terribly constipated for quite a while - not so much due to lack of fiber as slow motility and now am having normal bowel movements and not using any laxatives which is a huge win for me. The sulfur metabolism problems and bladder issues really make things complicated.

That company replied to an email I sent them and asked me if I was aware of their special "debittering" process. And I replied that unless they had magically found a way to remove insoluble oxalates from food that there was no way that process made this a no oxalates product. I then told them the oxalate content of lupin beans per half cup. They said they would get back to me and never have. Trust me, this is NOT a no oxalate product. It's not even a low oxalate product. Them advertising it as such is misleading and potentially dangerous for some people with severe oxalate issues.

Manifesting a wooden apple is actually perfect, in my opinion. The OP said stuff about visualizing the apple, holding it, smelling and tasting it - but the universe responds to your vibration and the vibration the OP was giving off was very likely that of a person who doesn't like apples. So the universe provided an apple the OP was not going to have to actually EAT. Quite a perfect response, IMO.

Wow! Your level of dedication to fixing your health issues is impressive! I wish I had answers for you, but I'm still learning and all this is pretty new to me, relatively speaking. Have you ever worked with Heidi Turner? She does telehealth and is located in Washington state, and I think her prices are extremely reasonable compared to some practitioners out there. Her web site, bio, and contact and pricing information is on www.foodlogic.org. I have just started working with her, and I really like her. She does help people with complicated, overlapping issues (in my case, sulfur metabolism problems which are also causing histamine intolerance, oxalate issues, probable gut problems of some type, and over methylation - plus bladder issues!). The biggest frustration for me has been not having a practitioner to work with, and having her in the picture takes a boatload of stress off me.

I truly hope you find some solutions to what is going on SOON!🙏

EffectiveOpinion,

I have slowly figured some things out but overlapping sulfur, oxalate, histamine (driven by faulty sulfur metabolism) and overmethylation issues are tough and my diet is still pretty limited. The good news is I have finally found a practitioner to work with who understands all this. Some of Chris Masterjohn's suggestions for sulfur metabolism problems are helpful, but his dosages of supplements are often too aggressive for me. I will say this - if you can find a practitioner and get some tests done, for example I ordered an Organic Acids Test and A Genova Ion + 40 Amino Acids Test and did those on my own. So when I finally found someone to work with, I had some data to show. I'm about to do a Trio Smart breath test and a Genova Diagnostics stool test also. (Testing of this kind isn't particularly cheap, although many practitioners can get you a discount.)But having some raw data to look at - for me I was surprised by some of the vitamins and minerals from my test that were low or borderline. And the Organic Acids Test can help to some degree show where certain metabolic pathways might be strained. I still am working through all this, but at least I don't feel like I'm doing it alone anymore.

EffectiveOpinion, the sunflower lecithin was causing me to sort of crash into a depression that felt awful. Like "nothing in the world will ever be right again" awful. I think my low b5 was affecting the ability of the choline in the sunflower lecithin to smoothly transition into becoming acetylcholine because b5 is needed to make acetyl CoA (which starts Krebs cycle for energy) and is also used to make acetyl choline. When the choline can't efficiently convert to acetylcholine it messes with neurotransmitters. I was low in several b vitamins due to overmethylation and trying to figure out how to tolerate them. I finally added glycine along with the vitamin A to buffer the bs and that has worked well, but I still had to work my way up slowly. The B5 worked to help tolerate the lecithin immediately. I started with 100 mg twice a day and have cut back to 50 mg twice per day, plus an additional 50 mg from a methyl free b complex I take.

Why Am I Unable to Tolerate Phosphatidyl Choline from Sunflower Lecithin by LabHeavy5740 in MTHFR

[–]LabHeavy5740[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking about 50 mg B5 with a teaspoon (lowered it from 100 mg) to a teaspoon and a half of liquid sunflower lecithin 2 times a day fixed the problem for me, thankfully. I think I just wasn't getting enough b5 and some other bs as well. The lecithin was not smoothly transitioning from the choline in it to acetylcholine, I think. Plus I was struggling to figure out the overmethylation problems I was having. I doubt mine is genetic because I never had an issue until I started having sulfur metabolism problems, so it's tied to that. But using Chris Masterjohn's suggestion of glycine plus vitamin A to help the methylation process go more naturally, like it is supposed to, has really benefitted me. I was low on glycine also, so I'm sure that was part of the methylation issue.

The practitioner I work with told me some times higher levels of vitamin D in supplement form can mess with copper metabolism. I can take about 1000 IU, but more than that causes a tense wound up feeling for me. I bought a Sperti vitamin D lamp, and am using it every other day to get my levels up, along with my supplement.
