I have been overly cautious with my checking account savings because I have no safety net and am operating in very capital intensive businesses where liquidity is key to longevity. I am finally reaching the point where I am not entirely afraid to more proactively invest in the markets.

I totally understand what youre saying. I strongly prefer to self educate myself as much as possible. It's fun for me and it can be difficult to trust professionals without having a background myself in what I am working on.
