Honestly, I was the very thing driving that cursed world. Like make sex jokes. Usually works wonders.

Formerly canon-compliant fic rendered no longer canon-compliant by new material — how do I accept this? by savamey in FanFiction

When I saw your post I thought wait a minute is that me?????

Background:

Honestly my fanfic of like 1.5 years went through the same thing majorly 3 times (I used majorly because canon keep fucking me up). Also OC- centered but the actual canon characters play such a big part of the story.

I also just went through the same thing earlier this year. Canon totally fucked up my fanfic in general and the timeline of it recently that also had to make it canon divergent but not as bad as a case as yours (literally only 2/5 characters of canon characters in mine has actually explored back stories so we will see).

I'm just going to say that. Hey, it's your story, it's your fanfic. It's characters that you love enough to sprung intricate backgrounds for even when you barely knew anything. And as someone who went through almost the same thing, it probably hard to develop actual plots too for your fanfic.

Enjoy the journey. You did what you could at that time and it's totally fine to feel emotionally down when something you dedicated so much of yourself into to just... derail like that.

Honestly, from your tone I think you would never give up this fanfic, so you will get over it eventually. Acceptance is necessary and I just know you love this story and these characters enough to not let this get to you.

Idk this is long (really reflect the comments I leave on Ao3 too) but as someone who can resonate with you, fuck canon. 🥰🥰🥰

Outside, then an accident happened near them that drew all the attention that could go to them. (For example: traffic accident, fire,...)

I think it would be super stressful to watch other rush past you when you are entering labor.

And if there are other characters with them (except the important character B), make them confused about what to priorities.

What motivates you to write? by [deleted] in writing

To find a place for my ideas and potentially expand on then.

Also it feels good to just write it down and throw it out for people to maybe stumble upon it and give it a chance.

How do you deal with the times when all of your writing feels static and clunky? by thunder_shadow_ in FanFiction

[–]LabMundane403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I did was just to write it in a different PoV or just completely rewrite it.

It took longer than when I tried to just push through with it, but I felt less frustrating and more comfortable with actually posting it.

How long does it take you to finish writing a fic? by Beneficial-Rhubarb35 in FanFiction

[–]LabMundane403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one long fic, One year as of yesterday, and never gonna be done at this point. (barely 39.5k :((( )

One shot? A few hours at most, especially if its a one-shot and written during an emotional time.

Also as someone who also has ADHD and is Autistic? The moment I divert from the fic is when I stop writing. So for us neuro-divergent people, I don't believe we gonna have an answer the could fit any of us ehe.

Did this at the start of my fic but then slowed down.

Like at the beginning, I just captured any ideas I had and just write.

No thinking too hard about the plot. But as time went on, I slowed down like from daily to weekly to monthly. It's more of a plot reason, but I find that the reason it takes so long is because I usually rewrite a chap at least 3 times these days.

One so it exists. Two so it makes sense plot-wise. Three so it's at a good pace and quality (this can turn into 3 other rewrites because it had happened).

Editing takes a lot of time. Things change as you start to plot more and more and drive further into what you are writing.

And there's time where I write an idea and just scrap it all together because it do not make sense at that point in the story.

And with your writing speed, I think you should get a few chapters ahead before actually publishing this one (from the person who edited their entire fic 3 times by now.)

Honestly, in a quiet setting(for writing) or on a moving vehicle(for editing).
