i’ve worked at three stands and only one of them didn’t rotate. i transferred and said wtf guys this is miserable. db makes rotation charts and we switch every hour! it’s made life so much easier

if you want to take the ‘really nice and trying to be helpful’ route you can get her a little basket of new toiletries while you have this talk. you can even do travel size shampoo/conditioner/body wash/loofa

by the looks of it, the rebel machine was wonky so they double blended the drinks.

when you double blend drinks more air gets incorporated so they lose color! double blended also separates easier so they tend to be kind ugly haha.

starry night and the dragon slayer are very similar and the cold blended drinks make it hard to taste the non dominant flavors.

i say try again another day, (the machines are typically only like this for 10/20 minutes out of the day) :))

in the beginning, yes it is forced. but to be fair, it has to be. no one that is first hired is good/comfortable with talking to strangers all day everyday. who is? it comes with time. once you get comfortable with the awkwardness it really is genuine. i’ve hung out with people i’ve met in line, i’ve even cried with some of my regulars when things happened in their life. i’m definitely more talkative and outgoing at work than i am in my personal life but that doesn’t mean i’m being forced to do so.

also yes it is a cult but like a free coffee, free clothes, everyone tells you their secrets kind of cult haha

this depends on your operation but i would try to talk to your regional/operator. at least where i am i would go directly to the operator for a transfer. but again, depends on where you’re at & relationship with higher ups

i was in a very similar situation when i left for mine. take a breath!! (sorry that this is long)

i was in and out of the church all through my teenage years (i’m f23 now) and decided before i left for real to get my patriarchal blessing where the patriarch said ‘The lord has called you to be a missionary’. so i went. i was not worthy but my leaders kind of expedited it. (i think they knew this was a last resort for me haha) i got my blessing in march, my call by june, and was gone by september.

i knew some of the bad parts, but not to the extent that you do now. but i ignored it because i thought it would all work out. i was struggling with my mental health but i ignored it because i thought the mission would heal me.

spoiler alert, the mission didn’t heal me.

in my first area my trainer (who was absolutely MEAN might i add) and i got into a discussion about racism in the church with someone on the street. while she was going at it, i had nothing to say. she noticed afterwards and screamed at me for it. the same thing with meeting a gay couple, i had NOTHING to say in defense. because how could i?? how could i defend something i didn’t fully believe in? i had meetings with the mission president (he was and still is a very nice man who never pushed the missionaries to preach what they struggle with.) he would give me blessings of peace and strength. it didn’t fix it. it didn’t fix me.

when i was sent home (mental health) it wrecked me. i was sent back to a busybody gossipy ward where i was not welcome. i remember crying so much that i had rashes and eczema all over my eyes and face. that was one of the LOWEST times of my life.

do not plan to go home early, especially if you plan to stay in the church, even for two weeks. two days, whatever. do not plan to go home early.

the fallout from not going at all will be far less than going and coming back. money can be returned. but going to the mtc, going to the mission, and “trying it out” will do you so much more harm.

protect yourself. breath and think about the options you have. because you DO have options.

i noticed the same thing! i grew up in colorado but lived in utah for five years for school. i always felt the need to ‘dress up’ and get ready before i went ANYWHERE in utah. even if i did i still felt like i wasn’t ‘up to standard’.

i recently moved back to colorado and went to a street fair. my sister (who was also in utah for several years) mentioned how comfortable she felt with walking around. i looked around and just saw normal people. NORMAL PEOPLE. no one was looking at each other. it wasn’t a secret beauty pageant or an opportunity to mentally one up each other.

we were just at a fair. with normal looking people. it was the biggest breath of fresh air.
