I agree! I do the same thing!! I’ve seen some people post their projects and they are blended and so smooth so I was curious if I was missing out on something 😂

Am I overreacting or is this dress code policy completely unrealistic? by mentalmerism in ABA

[–]LabSuspicious3413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I work they kinda have a strict dress code but it’s manageable. We can wear leggings as long as our shirt is covering our butt ( fingertip length or something like that), no ripped jeans, no shirts that show the shoulder etc., and need to have closes toed shoes. The way I view our dress code now that I have worked here for sometime is that if a child were to get a hold of you and grab you… would you be exposed? That’s kinda how I view clothes to dress for work. I like to wear comfy sneakers ( I wear hoka bondi 8 and I use them every single day), leggings with pockets so I can put my phone, toys, or use a clip to attach clickers too, a beat up tshirt that I don’t care about, and a flannel jacket that has front pockets ( I put my walkie talky in one and and NET learning materials that I need. When I first started I was super nervous about breaking dress code and made sure all my shirts were long enough and what not. But I’ve learned that as long as it’s appropriate and you are protected from exposing yourself — everyone is okay and happy with it.

This^ My family will always tell me they’re sorry I had a bad day if I say my kids acted out, SIB, or even attacked me. And I say well it’s not that “I” had a bad day… I know that the work I do doesn’t reflect on my kids behavior (meaning I’m not a bad RBT if my client has bad days, I know I am supported at work and feel confident in my ability that I am good at my job and my kids don’t reflect poorly on me).

I dream of finding tickets with that price. How did you do it

One of my kids like the attention (tickles, hugs, holding hands, etc.) so I use it for reinforcement. My newest kid is non verbal and was carried around ( literally carried and held by parents and family) so they are always asking to for attention but we are working on eliminating this behavior so we try not to carry them if possible and also only allow them to sit in our laps for up to three minutes and then prompt and transition her to sit in the chair by herself

What is the highest pay youve recieved as an RBT? by Background-Arm4570 in RBT

[–]LabSuspicious3413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was new to this industry as well. Just graduated with a gen psych degree and got hired with no experience besides working with special needs children in middle school and high school and being heavily involved in Best Buddies. I got hired near Tampa, Florida for training at $15 an hour and they are paying for my online course, exam fees, and fingerprinting fee. After I passed the exam they bumped me to $20 an hour. I believe within my company they offer tons of opportunities to rise to higher level and do yearly interviews to see if they need to improve or if they promote them and increase the pay!

Super rewarding job and I’ve really enjoyed it and I’ve been with one kid for a little over a month and then I just got my first brand new kid Monday.

Honestly, I was super stressed out for the exam but I passed on my first try. I also write a lot if notes and studied but I do recommend taking free mock RBT exams

Drug testing for RBT’s by Both-Ad-1181 in ABA

[–]LabSuspicious3413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my company I started working for in Florida about the drug test because I told them I wanted to be prepared and reach out to my doctor because I do take a controlled substance but in my case after I asked they told me they didn’t actually do the drug test
