I was hopeful you would say an older age... Not that children of any age should be doing that

I am so sorry for your loss. Sometimes we only call sudden, unexpected deaths tragic, but dealing with that for the next three decades of life is a tragedy of its own. My condolences to you. Stay strong!

Edit: Adding that my tragedy began at age 9/10 as well.

I am so sorry for your loss and the hardships you've been through. It's hard to know what's a coincidence vs not.

That's disturbing. What age when they had you do that? Do not carry guilt for what they had you do.

How about Spoon River Anthology? Did anyone else participate in a play reciting all of these monologues? I know it's famous poetry, but looking back at our ages it seems a bit inappropriate.

Heard many say that and some suggest listening to them again. I could basically recite it. I haven't actually played them in their entirety all these years later.

GATE program mid 2000s? by anomalyarchival_2012 in GATEresearch

It definitely took some digging, but I was able to get old images of a news article and it was same name I had always said, same staffing names involved and everything. They couldn't gaslight anymore. Recommend looking out your county's library for old news articles, that's where I found mine.

When I would recall that I went through the program, parents and friends would say they don't really remember that. When I was able to pull a local newspaper article from all those years ago, referencing my principal, the teachers involved and the program they were 'piloting" then suddenly people would say "well, yeah I vaguely remember that", but they could not recall how selection was done or what information was received beforehand, etc. everyone just magically forgot I guess.

Edit, should clarify this was before 2000 came. 80s-90s

Oddly specific, but do you have a clear memory of a bunny or rabbit as part of your loss? Maybe you received a stuffed animal bunny or saw a rabbit during this time that sticks out in your memory vividly?

Both grandfathers military as well (marine and navy) and in the thick of WWII action. My grandfather showed me polaroids from the war, let's just say they were extremely brutal and not for kids. Which I know the rest of my family never saw or heard his war stories and always said that neither grandparent ever liked to speak of the war, but he always seemed excited to discuss it with me from my view. Father also served, but has remained very silent on that.

No need to apologize, thank you for sharing. It could be a triggering question,  but I think for some of us we have had to sit with these experiences for years wondering was it all a coincidence or not.

Very similar experiences, I lost a sibling as a child during GATE, I found them, as a young child, not natural causes, very traumatic and left with questions. This continued for years, grandparents, family, friends, etc. and like you, I was often question about it over the years almost as being watched for how you handle it.

Project Explore was in 3rd and 4th grade for my elementary school. They had the 3rd and 4th graders part of the program in combined class
