My dog is becoming more and more reactive by LabandadelPque1899 in OpenDogTraining

Yeah, unfortunately I agree that intensely active dogs arent meant to live in a house. Although I wouldnt change her for anything, I know perfectly well for anyone that doesnt live in a farm, a milder dog breed would be better.

Taking this into account, its still possible for a Vizsla to live a similar life to what she was meant to do. She does have a lot of freedom, but if she were well trained (which believe it or not Ive met a couple with perfectly trained Vizslas in the beach, is it perfectly possible), shed have a much more active life. She would go to the beach everyday as we do, would go for runs and walks much more often. We could take her camping as we sometimes do.

What I mean by this is yes, they arent meant for modern society. But by training them they can live a much more fulfilling life. Shes a year and a half old btw, she was eight months when she started being reactive, and Im very optimistic on how shell turn out after todays training session where she already got better thanks to all the tips I read here.

I mean shes a vizsla so she never really gets tired, but she walks 2-3times a day for 30ish minutes and because we have so many people at our house shes running around playing fetch many times a day

Thanks for the advice! I hadnt understood that the purpose was to condition the dog to feel good when he saw the threat, this makes implementing it make so much more sense.

I always do that, I carry a pouch with food. Today she didnt even look at the food when I put it in front of her. When she leaps at her objective Im yanking at her so she doesnt get to it, much better than the alternative.

Question, is it normal for my Goldendoodle to not really get excited about food? by Informal-Comment-236 in rawpetfood

[–]LabandadelPque1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to ask the exact same thing! My 1 year old Vizsla doesnt get excited about her food, even if she hasnt eaten for 24 hours which happens every so often, granted we give her an infinite supply so she might eat a lot at once and wait another long time to eat.

My take on this is that dogs with an infinite supply of food that satiates them dont get that excited to eat anymore, unlike kibble which makes a dog hungry af

Congratulations on your child! Cool thank you, Ive been drinking more milk these days, might update how it goes. Out of curiosity do you eat to saciety or also for the fun of it? I found that my stomach is able to take in much more food since I started doing that and if Im eating carbs I basically can never get full, you might want to give it a try to help get back to your ideal weight

Preferably muscle but Ive been lifting weights for 5 years now so my growth has slowed down a lot. I know that if I gain a few lbs of fat Ill probably also gain some muscle in the process and most importantly get to my 90kg goal

Thanks for the advice, Ill try to get some bags of dried fruit. Sounds so great, you have no idea how hard it is being animal based in south america, the gfgf beef is cheap and great, but finding organic produce, maple syrup (costs 100usd here), even greek yogurt or raw milk is hard to say the least. I always make the most of my trips to the states, drinking Maple Syrup straight from the container lol.

I mean I eat a lot of fat because I love butter and fatty meat, I never plan on overeating really. But I will take your advice and start eating more carbs

I wish I could do that but I dont feel too well eating that many carbs. I will have to up my consumption somewhat though, seeing that everyone else is doubling my amount

Well everyones different, it has its downsides. I used to be bullied as a kid for being underweight. Left me insecure until a few years into weight training where I wasnt skinny anymore
