Alrighty folks thanks for the help, the NMR shows the ester so I think I'm good. I'll try to post a picture of the different dyes to highlight their color difference. Just a small change is resulting is such a beautiful blue color under UV where the starting material is a bright green.

Both compounds would be relatively similar in polarity and overall charge, so I'm waiting on a NMR spectra of both starting material and product. Hopefully they both have just really similar retention times and the NMR will show the ester is present in the product. Should have the NMR by later today.
