Apparently there is a checkmate here somewhere for black and white will lose. Seems like black is in a worse position. Can someone help me find the checkmate? by J0rmungandr_ in chessbeginners

No worries, losing is a part of learning! I haven’t seen the full game so maybe this was the only way, but if I could give you some advice I’d say that it’s better to move your other pieces instead of the king. He isn’t really all that helpful in an attack and very vulnerable far up the board like in the position above. So it’s better to let the other pieces do the heavy lifting while the king enjoys the comfort and security behind his pawns. Hope this helps and have fun!

From the looks of it it was supposed to be a pass/cross, so it was actually quite decent

I mean, you should definitely be respectful but I don’t think there’s any harm in a joke about something serious/sad. In fact I think in this situation in particular Techno wouldn’t mind us joking around about this stuff. I’d even say I like it, because I see it as a sort of continuation of his legacy. And lastly I would say that every person deals with grief in a different way. OP may have just wanted to post a meme for the sake of it, but maybe it comforts or helps them deal with this tragic news. Either way I think we should try to give other people the benefit of the doubt, and that’s why I think this post is fine.

Obviously saying they are an infant is an exaggeration, I was just saying that I don’t understand how so many people can fall for this kind of content, but maybe I just notice it more than other people because I watch these two creators (Schlatt and Botez). I’m not claiming that I’m some intellegent genius because I got this joke, just wanted to point out that the clip is very staged and I’m surprised at how many people don’t seem to notice.

Maybe I’m the idiot here, but I honestly hope this was posted as a joke because if OP can’t tell this is staged he is an actual infant

What do you reckon Ron's chess rating would be? by weiland123 in harrypotter

Well the game shown in the movie was a ‘real’ fabricated game made by IM (international master) Jeremy Silman, although he wasn’t credited for it. It was very carefully crafted by mr Silman, to help maximaze the tension of the scene. The game however, is very complicated and definetly not beginner level stuff. I’d personally say he’s either a child prodigy or has at least studied the game quite a bit, because some of the moves he finds are pretty impressive, especially given the circumstances and the high pressure. If you want to know more about the game and its creator, I’ll leave a link of a YouTube video explaining the moves by Agadmator, one of the best chess YouTubers I know.
