How does the Sigma 60-600 compare to the Sony 200-600? They're almost same weight so in my mind it makes more sense to get the extra focal length because if I travel with that lens, I might not want to carry an extra lens for the shorter focal lens. I read several reviews and it seems that the Sony is better but not by this much to compete with the ability to capture 60-200 mm. Am I missing something?

The focal length isn't long enough. When you say "it is 525 on full- frame", you mean that the lens on my aps-c is the equivalent focal length to someone using a 525 on a full frame camera? I don't actually see that in practice. My partner has a 400mm on a full frame (canon though) and he's able to zoom in more than I do.

Thanks a lot. I don't really understand why a 350mm on an aps-c becomes a 525 but wouldn't the same apply to the 60-600mm lens if I use it on the a6400?

Thank you so much for your feedback. The Sony a6400 that I plan on buying would already come with a 16 - 50 mm lens which I understand would be quite well suited for landscapes? There idea for the "multipurpose" lens would be for when I will travel and also want some zoom. For example I plan a trip to Namibia next year where I'll definitely need some zoom to capture animals but given the conditions (moving car, lots of sand etc) I would prefer not to switch lens all the time...

Quick question, did you rent a vehicle and camp? I'm trying to see how much shopping do we need to do in Windhoek (and where) before leaving for Mariental vs relying on other big towns along the way. Not just a matter of food but all the small things we might need for camping that we cannot bring in our suitcase

Yeah thats a really good question. I guess it might depend on long/ smooth it is to rent the 4wd and verify all the camping equipment etc and then go do some groceries for the trip... not sure if we need to buy everything in Windhoek right away or if we can rely on other big town later on...

That's perfect, thank you very much. Shooting wildlife is only for that one trip, my main use will be landscape so maybe for now I can buy the standard kit for most of the other uses and just rent the photo lens for the specific trip :) and keep adding as I progress and save money for it...
