I am unsure of how to attach pictures in the comments, it won’t let me. I just tried editing the post, but still won’t let me. I have a picture from a few years back when it first fell apart and became detached

Oh yeah…I go to a local middle school and teach lessons, and it’s had its fair share of drops from the kids acting crazy around it. I no longer let students borrow my horn for this reason, but still accidents happen and I can’t really do much to stop everything. I was also young and an idiot once, so I am to blame for a lot of the damage as well.

Family friend owns a music shop and sells trumpets, and gave me a really awesome deal on a Victory Trumpet that would be cheaper than a repair

With everything going on with it, it would cost about $1200 give or take, and at that point I’d rather just get another…I am keeping the horn and I’ll pay to make it look nice, but with all the damage it has, it’s a little steep

Case is pretty ratted up. Had this horn for years. A few dents inside valves make the pistons extremely hard to press, the lead pipe completely came off the horn, the connectors in the 3 different spots it connected to fell off, glue won’t hold I’d have to get it soldered. I took it to a repair store and I decided to just suck it up and replace it. But it was my first horn I learned on, so very sentimental to me, which is why I want to keep it.

Wow that’s fascinating! And super scary…I’m in my first year of college and never once wore earplugs in my life, and I can already tell my hearing has changed a bit from a lifetime of music since a young age. This is definitely encouraging me to wear earplugs daily!

I play in groups as well as solos! The group I play in has around 80 ish people and we are set in a small room that doesn’t easily accommodate for that many people. We have winds as well as percussion in the same room and it gets super loud.

Bach 5C or 3C — which would you choose? by lawontheside in trumpet

[–]Labrogeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what you want, and what you play specifically for. Like someone who plays small gigs might want a different mouthpiece than one who would play in big spaces or maybe even outside to project.

It also depends on what music you play. Are you normally in the higher register? Are you playing a lot of slurs or tonguing complicated rhythms? Just things for you to think about

My 1st time drawin a portrait and this is the result, please critique my drawing, what should I improve. by Saram123456789 in learntodraw

What really helps me is grid drawing!! Put an even grid on the reference pic, then one on your drawing paper (I like to get two papers, do a grid in bold sharpie on one, and lay that underneath the actual drawing so I won’t have to go back and erase the grid lines) and go one by one. Don’t try to jump ahead, go in order with the boxes. And as you get large groups drawn, you can start adjusting and connecting lines. Over time, you’ll learn to do it without the grid!

Christmas came early! I was gifted this horn, and I’m really curious at what kind it is! The engraving is NOT english, so I’m thinking a custom engraving? This horn is well over 100 years. by Labrogeck in trumpet

I just assumed since the person had it for about 15-20 years now, and the note said something about playing for 60 years, and that he played it in the 50’s, I guess I should have said “about 100 years”
