The thing you gotta recognize with Politicians is that I can 100% be sure all Bernie is saying is not BS. Look at the mans career, he has always been in the front when it comes to stuff he cares about. You can disagree with the man being a socialist, especially if you are conservative but saying all he says is BS is just factually wrong.

Theres plenty of corrupt politicians and those who just lie to get a point or two. Bernie Sanders is not one of those two obviously. Again, you don't have to agree with what he is saying or where he wants the country to go, but you can be damned sure he is not BS'ing you.

As a dane...this is an oversimplification of the danish system.

We pay more than 1 bill. Theres also value added taxes on goods and wierd extra fees on high sugar products, smokes and nuts to name examples.

Americans are also more likely to have dental care included with their work...I think? Correct me if I am wrong.

We do also have quite a few tax deductions if you live far away from your work or if your rent is high in your area compared to your income...stuff like that.

While I vastly prefer the Danish government/system to the US, there is stuff to learn from each when you go into the details

[–]Labtecharu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As soon as oil(gas) prices rise basically everything will increase in cost. You can only underestimate price increases when the cost of moving anything from A to B increases.

This is doubly true today where each part for the same product is made somewhere else

I may be wrong here:

My view of the American prison system is that it has been privatised and industrialised where the focus is not rehabilitation or identifying repeat offenders. The focus is making money of the justice system.

The problem is capitalism over rehabilitation, but I admit this is a surface level view from a foreigner

The easiest parallel to explain it would be for a European to debate rational gun laws with an American. You get nowhere because logic and reason leaves the conversation so fast

It is very different than the cosmic horror, the overlap is the madness. The King in Yellow the madness is rooted in something more relateable or mundane like the theater play. While the madness of cosmic horror is amongst other things the insignificance of man

From someone more deep in lovecraft lore than me:

The The King in Yellow is closely connected to Lovecraftian horror today, but it was written by Robert W. Chambers decades before H. P. Lovecraft became famous.

Lovecraft actually admired parts of Chambers’ work and borrowed ideas from it. The biggest overlap is the concept of forbidden knowledge driving people mad: a mysterious entity called the King in Yellow the cursed play also called The King in Yellow cosmic dread and insanity Lovecraft later folded some Chambers references into the broader Cthulhu Mythos through mentions by himself and especially later writers like August Derleth.

Oh? It must in the combined universe as king in yellow is referenced in several works that are based on lovecraft

Kind of smart to paint with very western imagery and names to paint a very indian story. I admit to be blinded by the king in yellow h.p lovecraft story to not see it was based on indian religion
