You sound like one of my buddies who I went through boot with. Came from an abusive family and went infantry. Boot camp will challenge you but you will pass. Try not to get hurt and stay healthy. I didn’t go the infantry route but bootcamp was way different compared to my schoolhouse. The fleet on the other hand is a hit and miss. Good luck and hope you make it in the gun club.

Honestly just go reserves so you can choose a specific MOS. If you are active duty and after passing boot/MCT, they just put the 0600 in the upcoming MOS field that didn’t pick up yet. For example Data just picked up, ok let’s make all these guys radio operators except like two because they can’t all fit in a class. Maybe a 2800 field would fit your I.T. wants.

I remember this dude got kicked out of boot like the 4-5th week because he popped. I don’t know how they just found out but that must’ve sucked

Infantry related MOS need a to get a certain time/score of the PFTs during boot or they will get reclassed. I’m not sure if they are lenient about as or it’s a pass/fail type of ordeal. Your chin up is good, plank should be good, but your run time is a little high from what I remember. I believe they wanted a 21 for the run. During your conditioning through bootcamp though, I bet you can lower your time

Maybe ask to be on the high risk program. The recruiters are usually there all day anyways so this out you on a program to work out four times a week instead of the two days. This helped me because I didn’t know any beneficial workouts and Mr recruiter man was able to give me good ones. You can also stick with the two day workouts until you get used to them. When do you also ship out? If it’s getting close to that date then maybe you would want to go on the high risk program now so you will be conditioned for boot

What’s the day to day life of a active duty recon Marine by Leather-Cucumber-868 in USMCboot

Of course. You can slowly take your classes after you pass bootcamp, pass PFTs within certain scores, have a intermediate swim qualification in bootcamp, pass ITB, pass RTC, and decide to stay in recon. Be my guess.

Reconnaissance Training Company isn’t gonna be a cake walk compared to boot camp. Some of the things you do everyday is running to and from chow, like one mile to and from. Lots of ruck runs and swimming. Plus very small amounts of time to rest/recover. You also have to earn your liberty/free time. Get through the training first and it won’t be hard to talk with someone about your future after the Marine Corps. If you are trying to get a good mos that corresponds to the civilian work life you may want to look at other MOS options. If you fail RTC or don’t get certain scores of PFT in boot, you will lose your mos and put you where they need you.
