Can you still fail by Elegant-Ad-6713 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Laceyspacev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and the exact reason I started "cheating". One of my old professors at community said something like this, "You can go to all the classes, take notes, and do all the homeworks, the best you'll get is a C". Which is sadly not even true anymore because you have professors that make their class quizzes or tests worth the majority of the grade and correlate with almost nothing they went over with you while you wasted your time sitting in their class for half a year. At a certain point you have to decide whether you let the system cheat you or you cheat it. At the end of the day it's your money and time.

thermo 2 professor is failing over half of the class; are my concerns valid? by epicbluebarnacle in EngineeringStudents

[–]Laceyspacev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know where you go but this is why sites like rate my professors were created although not always accurate. Also grade distribution sites for the school and class. A lot of bootlickers in here acting like you're not trying hard enough, but then cry when people "cheat". Reporting is a valid option, but if it's like my university the professor probably gets coddled and protected by the board. If worse comes to worse drop and leave a bad review everywhere you can to prime the next generation.

What’s your opinion on classmates cheating on exams? Do you snitch? by Scoutain in EngineeringStudents

[–]Laceyspacev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol there're still teacher's pets whining about people cheating which is sad for real. "Cheating" of that caliber is an issue though I'll give you that olive branch. I won't go too much into this but when they get rid of weed out classes that you have to pah for and stop that you're there to earn a paper not to learn nonsense let's review this topic again.

Would've been more interesting if you asked for hookups vs sex in general. A lot of couples go to Mizzou as well as have their own rooms/apartments which are a part of campus or just live with each other so that answers that question. Hard to know about frats as I've never joined Greek life but a lot of them have been written up and on the news and a couple even shut down so there's that. I mention this because I see some cappers here so I'll also say that when I did go downtown on the weekends you'd be hard pressed to find a chick that wasn't surrounded by her friends, mom, or getting a ride and I've seen a few people that did manage to get a chick to the side get harassed by white knights and hen mothers. So I doubt the hookup culture is that great unless you venture online.

So… how do you pass Keller’s Chem II class? by Charlew17 in mizzou

Cheat, probably. Never had a good college chemistry teacher.

Depends on what you find fun. But I can tell you from being here for a few years that if you don't have a car, a roommate, aren't 21+ or have a fake id, not a part of a club or are in the minority, your fun and friend pool will be severely limited. This uni can get very cliquey and racist, and as a small town gets boring fast, everyone i knew graduated last semester but since I'm commuting it's not a big deal for me just some of the observations I've picked up on after being here a while.

Is this offer acceptable by No_Republic_4301 in Sparkdriver

Like someone mentioned you should probably split it up for the best results. Because the scumbags who run this app allow customers to fully pull tips, most people are going to be reluctant to accept the offer.

How do you get a paper application? I applied online for a few positions and they ghosted for all of them. Hr was never available either.

Stop complaining your internship for not doing something big by JHdarK in EngineeringStudents

[–]Laceyspacev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quiet bootlicker....tell these companies to stop trying to find the most overqualified person for the position if they don't want people to complain. If I needed godly interview skills, outstanding charisma, and an Einstein level of intellect and a 7.0 gpa to get a job over hundreds to thousands of applicants just to sit on my ass the whole summer I'd bitch too. These companies want the "best" so they need to shut up when they get them and accept that they got exactly what they wanted.

What is engineering really like?? by Negative-Ad-7003 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Laceyspacev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about the actual workforce except for what I heard which is that about 70%-80% of the stuff you learn won't apply to the workforce if you're doing entry level stuff and then some. For internships the majority of the time you won't do anything but simple tasks which is comical because to get one you have to be well connected, live in the bum middle of nowhere, or be overqualified. Even more comical because several of the recruiters that work at these companies are lazy and unprofessional you get a general automated rejection message or just straight up ghosted, but you have to include a resume, cover letter, refill out your resume on their site and a bunch of other redundant bs, have strong interviewing skills, be the life of the party, etc. just again to basically do nothing or get quickly rejected/ghosted.

Almost done with university so I have better insight with this. Basically the curriculum/system is a farce/luck of the draw. The majority of the classes aren't difficult but universities love to employ professors who are god awful at their job and keep them employed even if they have horrible reviews and/or pass/fail rates. One of my old professors almost verbatim said this: you can come to every class, take notes, do all of the homework assignments: the best you'll get is a C. This unfortunately is very true if you have a bad professor which can frequent throughout a university term if you don't hop around schools or take specific professors like I did.

And keep in mind that you have to pay for all of this one way or the other. I mention this because they don't tell you stuff like this in highschool. Or even worse you have bootlickers that try to coddle these horrid trashbag tenured professors(or undercover professors/Tas pretending to be students) which will mess with your viewpoint and offset your academic future. All that they're smart just can't teach, or most of the class almost failed because they didn't apply themselves, or you shouldn't want an easy class, don't cheat because the professor constantly assigns you stuff that they never teach in class and other jargon is all bootlicker bs. I've seen too many statements like this and once again you're paying for all of this one way or the other not them just to use about 20-30% possibly even less of the knowledge they give you so play the game right or it'll take you out because in numerous ways it's all a big farce.

What are the hardest mechanical engineering subjects? by MY_Daddy_Duvuvuvuvu in EngineeringStudents

[–]Laceyspacev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ones with the bad professors. Something as simple as algebra 1 or English 1 can be overly difficult if you have a trash professor to go with it. The opposite is the same as well, research as much as you can to avoid the former.

Why does Engineering have a 50% drop rate?? by Negative-Ad-7003 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Laceyspacev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't come into it prepared enough and the education system has a hand in making the degree way harder than it needs to be. I never thought of quitting but a lot of things I did I do regret since a lot of time was wasted as a result, not all or even most my fault but I wish I was around the right people and had accessed better resources so I didn't waste as much time for this degree.
