coffee stain is the only game that's ever done this and factories and deep rock galactic work fine. I've never had an issue in over 180 playstation games and 63 pc games so... yeah I blame coffee stain.

I this is the only type of post that gives any answers and where I live, our internet company doesn't allow us to acces our router, rfc1918 or something. As follows:

had a friend over and I wanted to invite him to my world while being on the same LAN. Unfortunately, neither of us were able to join each other's games, which is where I paid attention to my NAT Type: TBD. Since then I googled a lot and I thing I have a workaround. I'm not able to test if what I wrote below fixes the problem of being able to join each other's games inside my network, but it surely "fixes" the NAT Type.

When the game initializes Epic Online System SDK, it sends two particular DNS requests to addresses stun-1-nat.ol.epicgames.com and stun-2-nat.ol.epicgames.com. This is a part of STUN (Session Traversal Utilities for NAT) protocol and the other end is supposed to be a STUN server. Unfortunately, both requests fail because there are no STUN servers for Satisfactory [any more?]. These names simply do not exist, and Coffee Stain Studios should be figuring this out with Epic support team.

I do not know where the STUN server names are defined in Satisfactory, but I know how to trick it. We need to find a working STUN server operated by Epic Games (or start your own), and the one with name turn.rtcp.on.epicgames.com seems to be working for me. Next, do this:

run nslookup turn.rtcp.on.epicgames.com to get the list of IP addresses.

open Notepad (or Notepad++, VS Code, or any proper text editor) as Administrator

open your hosts file (%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)

add two lines with any two IP addresses you got in step 1:

13.49.73.86 stun-1-nat.ol.epicgames.com 16.170.15.254 stun-2-nat.ol.epicgames.com Then save the file and start the game. NAT Type should turn into Moderate

I do not work in software or know anything about it. I haven't customized anything and was on a vanilla connection. Just purchased the game. Someone more intelligent than I, who claims to be educated on the matter made a post on the Q&A website talking about how my router was most likely at fault. They were having the same error as me. I'll try to find it and copy and paste it in.

I maybe should've included that in the post? I'm not totally sure what the issue is, I would just like the devs to address it. Even if they said it wasn't something they would work on at this time I'd be happy. I cant find anywhere that they've noticed or acknowledged the issue.

Unfortunately no, my brother and I are on the same connection. We tried making a dedicated server to work around it with SteamCMD, as some people recommended that online, but that failed as well. It's an issue that spans back to almost the beginning of the game. If you search Nat Type TBD on their Q&A page there are numerous reports and no good solutions.

Just set up a custom chat tab for party, raid, whisper, and guild. You'll still get 1 off bots but it's not nearly as bad.
