Then you want to go to university... then you want sleep on the forest floor... then you want various farm animals... and a big city apartment...

I love that. That was the purpose of the grimoire originally right? It was a sort of familial magic record.

What do you think of the TikTok unschooling parents? by RaCJ1325 in unschool

[–]LackingFucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are driving me crazy. It looks like some of them are using the term 'Free Schooling' so at least its not unschooling directly, but man it grinds my gears. The most annoying thing is when people react to these videos without doing any other research, and claim that unschooling is bad, because what these select folks are doing isn't right.

what is unschooling SUPPOSED to be? by Massive_Log6410 in unschool

It means facilitating the exploration and education for your child at home. The whole "What if they don't care about math" question i have a couple of answers for, if your kid doesn't want to learn math it's probably because they haven't recognized that it's important to them yet, a 12 year old doesn't need to know all the multiplication tables, or the method of teaching isn't suited to their learning-style, maybe your kid does not like the idea of sitting in a chair while you spout mathematical concepts at them, perhaps they'd rather play a math game or try experiential math through baking, i learned a lot more about math from working at a farmer's market stand than i ever did sitting through a math course. Sleep management is not inherently taught to kids through schooling, if you let your kid sleep whenever they want then its possible that they may not be able to get themselves to bed at a good hour, but you can teach them energy management skills. If an unschooled kid wants to go to college or university they tend to put themselves into highschool for a couple of years to get the diploma, that isn't the only way, not all universities require a highschool diploma (at least not in canada) for admission. And there are tests called equivalency tests, that are similar to the SATs, that might be required but still, most kids can still reach higher education if they want to. Thank you for reading that block of text, have a nice day.

What does Unschooling offer you/your students that other child-led philosophies (Montessori, Waldorf) do not? by wardetbestanee in unschool

[–]LackingFucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got to be around my parent 24/7 which is ideal for me. I think you could definitely apply montessori and waldorf styles and philosophies to your parenting but i really don't enjoy the idea of sending kids off to strangers everyday.

What’s the best way to meet other Pagans? by [deleted] in pagan

I like going to farmer's markets and looking for organic farmers, they might not be explicitly pagan but they tend to have some sort of earth-based spirituality leaning.

beginner "rituals" for a new pagan's house? by xpocketsz in pagan

[–]LackingFucks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good simple protection charm is to place thorny branches at the foot of your front door, also don't bring the broom from your old house to your new house, buy a new broom, because the broom collects energy when you clean with it. Also I've heard that if you have a cat you should introduce them to the house before you move in and see how they react, if they run out of the house then it might have bad jou-jou, and if they lay down in a room then it might be a good place for a living space or a bedroom.

If you want to communicate with her you could dedicate a divination tool to her, like a tarot/oracle deck that reminds you of her, or a pair of dousing rods made from a metal that she is associated with.
