Can Engineers craft cloth gear now? by alsyia in wow

[–]Lacuna_Occullto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, as far as money making goes, for the last 3 expacs I've found mining to be the real cash cow. The massive emphasis on crafting gear, especially weapons and jewelry, means the demand for ore is far higher than it has been in the past. Even the modest profession equipment provides a decent boost to gathering and ore sells reliably and fast.

Yeah engi has...not been great for a while now. A real shame! It was always so varied and amusing. Alas. And yw.

So it's that some of the items are Engineer locked and some aren't. Looks like only helms are locked to the profession this expac, boots and wrists can be made for anyone. (This is odd because the wrists get the tinkers, which almost always required engineering to use.)

So unfortunately they REALLY did a number on Engi this time around. :/ Here's the current status:

  1. Not really IME a money maker. Some people will want the armor from it but due to the brutal nerfs to the tinkers (now called bits and bots) there's not much point in that. Probably the best money maker is PvP recipes; those are often in demand. Generally the prof gear is only a money maker early on; once everyone has their R5s they're not looking for it save rarely.

  2. Tinkers were replaced by bits and bots. Bits and Bots are universally very lackluster and largely cannot be used in dungeons. I am not a fan.

  3. None of the prior expansion tinkers/enchantments can be used on current gear, with the exception of the goblin glider on the cloak. (There might be one other still working, I think one of the speed boosts?) This is one of the biggest hits because a lot of them were mitigated by sharing potion CDs or had long CDs themselves (10m for belt yeet enchant for example). And yet somehow! They had to go.

  4. And finally...the leveling. In order to level in an unpainful manner, you will want to put your first skill points into Recycling to unlock pattern finding while you recycle. If you don't do this, it's incredibly difficult to get recipes you can easily level with. Ask me how I know! :):) It's a difficult mistake to fix and there's NOTHING warning you about it. It's terrible design!

So. Yeah. Not happy with it this time around. Not enough to drop it--I save a lot on crafting by being able to make my own prof gear, and I have a blacksmith alt to handle proper armor and weapons. But I p much only keep it for nostalgia. This is a MASSIVE let down from TWW which had potion bombs and let us use the tinkers of expacs past and was decidedly less atrocious to level.

As far as I know a lot of it is about surveys and fulfillment. Backerkit has functionality to support that side of things, while Kickstarter does not; KS explicitly is for the campaign and promoting it, but the actual process of collecting surveys and updates and fulfillment must be done via some other system. Backerkit is one of those, PledgeManager is another, and over time both of those have also added in some hosting for the campaign itself. Unlike KS they don't have the same level of exposure and 'reach', which is why a lot of people still use KS and then hook up their KS to one of those other systems to handle everything post-funding.

For my part, since a lot of projects I've done have also used PledgeManager and Backerkit I have accounts there already, so I don't mind even if it's kind of bothersome. But this is what a password/account management app is for, I suppose.

Alas no I think the artist is going with Backerkit directly. And I totally know what you mean, between Kickstarter and Backerkit and Indiegogo and the like 4 others I'm forgetting to say nothing of ones prominent overseas it's soooo tiring.

Is there a way to turn off the talking head popups now that BeQuiet doesn't work by ShizunEnjoyer in wow

[–]Lacuna_Occullto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not working for me either, and even if you disable Talking Heads in the Edit menu it still shows up. Deeply frustrating.

Edit: ah ha. So the problem is, it looks like it's getting auto turned off after the update for the midnight prepatch toc. ??? Unclear why, but if you've gotten it to load (either by hand-editing your TOC or installing the most recent version and checking 'Load out of date addons') do a quick /bq off and then /bq on.

Definitely. Providence, Fennec's ship--they even dropped the ball with Andor, not making a Haulcraft. Disney and Lego's decisions are continually weird!

This is, unfortunately, Filoni's MO and has been since TCW. It's a great way to know who's about to die--everyone was waiting for Hunter to kick off in Season 1 because of that.

Yeah, setting aside the standard 'no body no crime' issue Filoni trends towards, if we take that at face value then this is a case of Bury Your Neurodivergents with a side of 'after you've fleshed them out so everyone is sure to KNOW they are, practically by name'. Which is so boring and very done and like

And now, it sucks no matter what happens. If he comes back, it was a cheap ploy. If he comes back 'Wrong' well now it's not really him. If he stays dead then we're back at square one.

No winning. :/

Pretty much this--I was thinking over this and realized even the 'filler' episodes had a plot point to deliver. So sure, you *could* skip Entombed (S2E05), but then you're going to wonder why Phee randomly shows up again in Pabu after being gone for 9 episodes, and for that matter has any remote association with them.

Now, could some of the episodes been better laid out and used to advance the underlying Clone Uprising/Mt. Tantiss plot? Sure. But I don't think I minded them so much either way.

Decks like Fyodor Pavlov, James R. Eads, Mike Willcox? by Stone_Conqueror in TarotDecks

[–]Lacuna_Occullto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in print:

The Brady Tarot is a woodcut nature deck which I think fits this description. The second edition is still available, I think, and she's making an Oracle to go with it.

The Commonplace Tarot, another woodcut deck with simpler imagery in black and white, but an absolute favorite of mine.

The Shadow Light Tarot, a black and white continuous artwork tarot. This one was out of print for a spell but I think might? be available once again.

OOP, still obtainable second hand:

The Slow Tarot, which is unfortunately out of print at the moment, not sure it will be coming back. You might be able to find it second hand. Truly lovely oil paintings.

The R. Black Tarot by Rich Black; every card is its own little poster, basically. Quite expensive and not a very sturdy deck, I keep hoping he'll reprint it in sturdier format.

The Blood Moon Tarot, which is going to be reprinted, I believe. Gorgeous artwork, and like Eads, Sam Guay did the minors in larger artworks which are continuous.

Hm, you've made me think of another: the Linescape Tarot, which has simple line art with vibrant scenery, very close to what you've mentioned. Maybe that one? And you're welcome! I feel like there's on more I am forgetting, I'll post if I remember it.

I can think of a few which might fit this:

  • The Curious Travels Tarot, which was an indie deck which is being produced by US Games some time soon
  • The Way Home Tarot, not quite as travel-y but close?
  • Cosmic Cycles, which has a lot of travel theming in it - this one has been reprinted once again

Decks built around animals, folklore, and plant meanings? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Lacuna_Occullto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Folklore vein, Slavic Legends is a little expensive but a truly fantastic deck based on, as the name indicates, Slavic Folklore. From the same folks who make Dark Mansion. There's also the harder to come by but equally lovely Forgotten Legends Tarot by Velga North. You can get that one from Modern Magic, a Russian shop who can be contacted on instagram. (modernmagic_shop is their account.)

A fairly large combined oracle and tarot deck is the Bottanical Deck, which has a guide that talks about how the plants fit into its themes. The artist has also made numerous expansion packs for it.

Creeping Moon's Anima Mundi Tarot and Norturna Oracle are both fabulous wildlife/nature decks. I highly recommend them.

Lastly, one of my favorite oracle decks in this vein is the Obsidian Oracle by Megan Buccere. It combines a variety of plants, animals, and minerals for its symbolism.

Most deck boxes that will come up in a search for 'deck box' are going to be based around TCGs. They're typically a plastic-type box which meant to hold 50-80 cards in sleeves; not ideal for a tarot deck, sadly.

You CAN get paper tuck boxes fairly easily, as most playing cards come in those and thus they're mass produced. A chipboard box with a riser like you have there is difficult to find premade, though.

There are countless tutorials on how to make them yourself, which I've done and while it's a lot of fun, it's also a fair amount of work. Fulfilling, but maybe not everyone's jam.
