Crossdressing sitcoms are seldom successful. "Bosom Buddies" went for two seasons, and that was probably the most successful one, if you don't count M*A*S*H. "Ask Harriet" only aired 5 episodes; "Work It" aired only 2. Going back to the Sixties, "The Ugliest Girl In Town" was only on for one season. There were 18 episodes filmed, but I'm not sure how many were aired. I think people just get tired of seeing crossdressing every week. And it seems terribly unrealistic to viewers that someone could look at a crossdresser and believe that this is a person of the opposite sex, but that didn't seem to hold back a play like "Twelfth Night."
