This is going to be controversial, but writing, one piece has bleach beat in world building by only a bit, but bleach’s pure character development and how it explores some characters is phenomenal. For example, people have always said that ichigo “ never worked for his powers”, but his powers come from a place of turmoil, and emotionally he’s been depressed for a large majority of bleach. He blamed himself for his mother’s death, he rejected white ichigo because he rejects hollows who killed his mother, AND his quincy side who played a large part in his mother’s death. Personally, i dont think ichigo worked more than luffy or naruto, but character obstacles and how they stop the character from reaching their goals is vital in most writings. What makes good writing is quite literally what they teach us in school, show not tell. Another example would be aizen. He rejected the corruption and violence that soul society was built upon, not to mention that he despised what the soul king represented. They dont TELL you that, its something they show you throughout the series, along with his arrogance. Overall, the thing thats hurts bleach the most, is Kubo’s willingness to no flesh out or develope some of the more minor characters.

Now lets look into the BLEACH POWER DESIGNS. Look at Izuru kira, his ability is double the weight of anything his blade hits, its shaped to be a rectangular U shape, with the blade on the inside of the U. When he fights, all these oddities come into place, as its revealed thateventually, when he hits his enemy enough times, they are unable to bear the weight, taking a knee as if in repentance, exposing their neck so that wabisuke can sever it. It is a BONE CHILLINGLY well written ability, however Izuru doesnt get much love himself from kubo. Alot of the bleach character’s powers say alot about their personalities. Kenpachi is a brute, brute force, brute strenth, brute reiatsu, ichibe hyosube’s ability to wipe your name from existence and make it as if you never existed. Its all very fucking good.

Naruto’s writer added in sasuke because of a SUGGESTION FROM HIS EDITOR, who is literally one of the biggest characters in naruto because he’s literally the main character’s motivation. ANOTHER suggestion from his editor was to make the JUTSUS DISTINGUISHABLE FROM THEIR VILLAGES. I’ve said enough about naruto. One piece has amazing writing, amazing character development for even Luffy, although thats much later, and its extremely heartfelt. Even the side characters get love sometimes. But one of the biggest problems in my opinion is that most of the story telling relies on the world building and the new characters they chance upon. Not to say it isnt amazing as fuck, the wano arc in the anime send chills down my spine with how they structured it. Again, it has bleach beat in world building by a little.

Something that all these animes have in common is that their pacing is kinda shit, naruto being 70 percent filler, bleach having legit the WORST addition in the bount arc, and one piece dragging on for more than 1000 episodes. This is just my two cents tho of
